Good Morning Sunshine! That sounds like fun, how does the Spaghetti Factory sound? I know you can reserve one of their rooms for large parties. I'll try and think of some other options too. Have a great day and stay warm and dry.
Good Morning Becca, Everythiing is going good. Did you see the information about the meet-n-greet on March 1st? I don't think I'll be going this time. Have a great day and I'll see you Sunday.
Aw, sweet - but they will be disappointed: My name is actually pronounced 'Lee' not "Leah". So. . . We are Southern Baptist. We work with the youth, my husband is a deacon, I play the piano, organ and sing in the choir (whichever place I am needed that week) and teach in the Women's Department on a rotation basis.
Steve and I have been married 25 years (will be 26 in May) - he is my best friend, the love of my life! He is 8 and a half years older than me, but I am so fortunate to have such a loving wonderful husband. We are living on borrowed time - he is a cancer survivor - and I try to not take that for granted! We gave Garry the Sailor's Bible for PIR/Graduation. I hope he reads it. . . I need to write a personal e-mail to tell you a few personal points, so maybe I will.
Did you talk to Josh yesterday?
Oh, yeah - what about your daughters trip that week-end? When, where, etc. Maybe we can meet up. Watch your e-mail on here.
Great! Glad that they are buddies! That is good - good friends are important, and just from our "talking" I know that your son was raised with "Christian values". I have never asked - what denomination is your family? I know beyond a doubt from your comments you are Christians, and that is ALL that matters, just curious. I worry about their friends and who they connect with - but we just have to trust we taught them right and go from there! Your daughter - where is she staying Valentine's week-end? When is she flying back? We are flying back late - as it was the only decently priced tickets we could get. Might be able to coordinate her riding to the airport with us - since Garry will drive us. I will e-mail you our cell numbers so she can have them if she needs anything. Anxious to meet her - and then in May, meet you! :)
Have you made your reservations for that week-end? I called - I think Garry has to go make the reservations for us, or at least it is cheaper if he does it! So, I am into cheaper! Lots of questions in one entry - sorry!
Yeah, Garry said he passed - but that was it! Glad they all did! I will let you know about the hoodies when she get's some info for me!
Also, don't you know I will hug Josh for you! Hope that doesn't bother him! We will get him to go out to dinner with us too. I am excited! Still don't have plane tickets yet, but I will get that completed tomorrow.
How is the baby?
Garry said he passed. That's all he said. He usually gives me his grade, but. . . Passing is good! How about Josh? Garry just texted and said it had been a bad day (but don't tell Josh that) Garry is VERY private! ALways has been! Let me know about Josh!
Yeah, Garry could have had his car before now, but didn't want it. Just now decided he wanted it - not sure why. He could have driven it back after Christmas, but. . . Oh, well - we are working on cheap flights. I don't fly a lot (except with school groups and the tour company makes the arrangements) so I just googled chear airline tickets and found $63 tickets. Any suggestions for something better? Sorry about the baby - let me know what the dr. says. Take care of your back - you can't care for the babies if you are sick!
Hey
How was your week-end? Yesterday was my husband's b-day. Also, we went wedding shopping for my daughter - we bought her dress and material for me to make all of the bridesmaid dresses. I feel much better - lots of things accomplished!
Thanks for your concern over my daughter, the prayers and the encouragement - it really helps!
Nicholas? Not familiar with that name - of course, as I said, Garry doesn't say a lot, just his personality, but also he uses last names, so. . . When I mentioned Josh, he said "Oh, you mean Young!" :)
When we went after Christmas we stayed at the Days Inn just off of the base - clean, reasonable, but I will check out the place you mentioned. Especially if our girls go with us.
Garry asked us to come Valentine's week-end since it is a long week-end with Monday being President's Day. He wants us to bring his car. We are trying to make plans to drive his car to him and fly back. Pray that works out. Did you say one of your daughter's is going then? Maybe we can meet both of them then.
How is your baby? And your back?
Talk soon
Lea
Sure will and thank you much for the prayers. I DO believe in the power of prayer! Kendall was told his clearance was completed also but turned out to not be so. During indoc the sailors were told to not worry about their clearances so Kendall did nothing. Some of them in his class went to check on theirs anyway. Some were completed, some in process and some not begun. So it wouldn't hurt for Josh to go check on the status. And yes, flexability is a must with military personnel and their families.
My older brother was a nuke decades ago. He was an MM until he went to OCS and went up the officer ranks until he was diagnosed with lupus. He retired with 20 years and taught the last three at Annapolis. I just recently re-read his letters from bc and nuke school. His nuke school letters are almost exactly like Kendall's email and IMs. School, study, test, school, study, study some more, tired, school, too much too fast, school, study, Passed!, no time to do much else, and so on. Does this sound like what you hear from Josh?
Becca,
The time between A school graduation and Power School depends on several things. A schools usually start every week. Power School starts once every other month. (My memory may not be correct, but I believe this is what my son told me.) So after Josh graduates and takes his leave, he may have about six weeks between schools. That is if his security clearance is completed. My son has been in T-trac since the end of September because his clearance wasn't completed by the time the next Power School started up.
Kendall did come home for two weeks leave after A school graduation. That picture in his dress whites was taken at our church the first weekend he was home. Actually, one week he did RAP duty (Recruit Assistance Program) where he worked for the recruiters. So that time was considered duty instead of using up his leave time.
I was able to go to his PIR and A school graduation. I am praying I find a job soon so I can start saving up the money to go to his Power School graduation. It is supposed to be the one to go to if you have to choose between the two. It is only a 10 hour drive for me so I will do all I can to be there. ( I worked 23.5 years at an automotive supplier company and got laid off the end of October due to lack of work. The community I live in has about 11,000 people so it is difficult to find a job, especially in today's economy. The last six years I worked as an administrative assistant, so I am looking for that type of job.)
Is Josh MM, EM or ET? Kendall is ET. Electronics Technician

Hi Becca,
Your latest comment on the Nuke moms group was so right on. I noticed that the discussion about the masting was deleted. I pray I didn't offend Patricia. I wanted her to know we are here for each other. I tried to keep my comment neutral - give info without any condemnation. I hope her son did not get a harsh penalty. As you said, we taught our children about consequences. Now they have to live there lives.
I come from a large family. Four brothers and three sisters. I always wanted a large family but only had the one. Had him at 35 and thank God every day for the opportunity to be a mother.
My son starts Power School February the 19th (or is it the 16th?). Where is Joshua in his schooling now?
Anita
Hey Becca,
Glad I could help. My daughter just graduated A school 2 weeks ago. She is in between A school and power school, waiting,... The villas are nothing special, don't expect the Marriott. The beds are a lot more comfy then they look. Not sure where your from, but they have huge roaches here. Be prepared to see a couple of them belly up when you enter the place. Just means the spray is working. I moved down here this past November to be closer to her, amongst other reasons. I live in Mount Pleasant now. I suggest you and your family stay away from North Charleston, very crime ridden. You must visit the Isle of Palms while your here, and take a horse carriage ride thru Charleston for some history. Most of all enjoy your time with your Nuke. I'm in the area so if there is anything I can do to help you while your here feel free to e-mail me.
Go Navy
Hi Becca,
You can call and make and pay for the reservations over the phone, but my daughter had to be the one to pick up the key, because she had to show her military ID so we were eligible to stay there. Ask them about it when you call.

No, no - I enjoy hearing about your family! I was grateful to be able to stay home with my children while they were little. I went back to work when they started school and teaching, I have be fotunate to have basically the same schedule as them. We have always been very close too - of course you know how teens are, there were rough times - nothing is perfect - but we were fortunate when I look at others. God did bless us! I grew up in a very close family - I was the baby by many years - a change of life baby! Only God planned me. My husband is also from a large family. My siblings and I still get together often even though we live 100 miles from them. We enjoy playing board games, cards, doing puzzles, etc.
I am really excited about meeting you at graduation. Maybe we can stay at the same place - oh, me sorry - now look who is rattling.
It is great to find a Christian mom to share 'our sons' together! God Bless you
I have a prayer request - 23 year old daughter had an abnormal pap smear. She is finding a dr. in Birmingham where she lives now and get it redone. We are praying it was just a bad smear due to her cycle. We also haven't told people about it - so don't mention it to the boys. Thanks!
Good Night! Thanks for your friendship!
Lea
Wow - that's great that you all get to go other times - I am sure that helps Josh. Are any of your children married yet? Our oldest is getting married in Aug. I love big families too - I love babies, kids, teens (most of the time haha), and am learning how wonderful adult children can be! I have learned to enjoy them where they are and not wish for them to be younger again! I will tell Garry Josh's (oops, Young's) sisters are coming - I told him about their pictures and he was impressed! ha
I agree - I miss mine so much it hurts! We have the empty nest so. . . But, we are enjoying our "couple time".
Ok, so just you coming at graduation or your husband too? Kids?
I presume you do not work outside your home, what does your husband do? Sorry if I am being nosey - just interested.
Yep! Only God! It was - and still is amazing! With Garry they told me to terminate the pregnancy, that both of us, and probably neither of us would make it. But God Knew! After my hysterectomy the dr. said it was amazing - that after being in there he saw that that there really was no medical way I could have EVER gotten pregnant! only God!
Wow - one more! That would be 8, right? We wanted 6, but hoped for 4 and were thrilled with 3!
One of your daughters, in the pics, looks like Kyra on the sit-com Reba. Ever seen that?
Hope your better - or pregnant! :)
