Hi Tammy, My daughter was supposed to move to Cole yesterday; but they ran out of room. Anyway, she was okay with it, cause she likes her roommates on the Enterprise - lol. She told me they would probably NOT have the same roommate - but could request them once they got there. From the pictures on the Great Lakes A School page, the Cole looks pretty nice, though.

He hasn't come home yet. He will be finishing his first C school in a couple of weeks. He doesn't know the exact date he will be home. His last visit, in June was wonderful. He sure matured alot in a year!!! I bet you can't wait to see your son next week.

Take some cash to PIR. The Ships design their own T-shirts and sweat shirts and sell them before PIR starts. They only take cash. They also sell a couple of other things like drinks and sailor hats. You can also go into the NEX. Their you can purchase Navy items. They accept credit cards their. I had to get my Proud Navy Mom stuff. LOL Stephen gets so embarrassed.

I took Stephen's laptop and cell up to his PIR. He used it while he was on liberty. However, I took it back home with me and mailed it to him later. Keep in mind, whatever he has, he will have to carry with him in his duffle bag on the trip to his A school. It will be easier to mail it to him later.

I also took some personal items for him for the hotel like his personal clothing and some toiletries. He really wanted to take a "real" shower when he got back to the hotel room and change into his civilian clothes.

I also baked him some of his favorite cookies. He really appreciated that.

Tammy, need to apologize and plead ignorance. Didn't realize I was giving a last name until I read your blog. Couldn't figure out why your son matched Daniel's desciption, but the name was different. (He said his mom was on N4M). We've always called my son by his middle name, Daniel, but his first name is James. I know I need to start getting used to "James", as that is who he will probably be in the Navy.

Stephen was actually bored during BC. He said it was the same stuff over and over. As for weapons training for Stephen, he fell asleep during class, so he did not get to qualify. He had one of those 30 hour days with not sleep. Oh, well. I don't mind that he didn't qualify on a weapon.

Be careful what you send him, because he is the one that will get in trouble, not you.

I am not sure if they will take it from him or not. I do know that they make them open up everything in front of them and they check what is in it. Even when Stephen was in A school, he had to open all of the boxes I sent him and they looked through it.

They will make him open it in front of them though ...They confiscated Kellys because I had sent her clipping from news papers and magazines ...They let her keep the letter I wrote .... after that I only sent clipping one at a time LOL she really did enjoy getting them ....

Have you heard from your son?? How is he doing?? I am sure he is homesick, and sick. It seems like Stephen had a cold the entire time he was in GL. Not much longer and you will get to see him.

I still cry. He is my only child....still miss him, forget that he is a man now and not my baby any more. The Navy has been very good for him.....he has matured alot.

Stephen used to hate me knowing things before him, but now he asks me to ask other moms different things for him. It is funny.
