Sounds like your very busy. Glad you will be going to Texas and yes the Ft Hood stuff is insane, so scary. We will be going to Houston for Thanksgiving, my Grandbaby is 19 months old now and I can't wait to see her. Jon got back from his underway a few weeks ago and I am a happy camper now, I really missed him this time out. Purple Heart? What happened? Is everything ok?
My Dad , he's 97 is having some problems now, it's so hard watching him go thru all these changes. I cry about it but I am very thankful that we are close.
Do you know of anyone that is deployed right now that needs anything? Christmas is right around the corner. I can get out a package next week if you have a contact for me.
Take care and don't work too hard.

Ruth, Haven't been on the site for a while. Hope all is well with you.
Just found your comment, I have been busy lately. The baby belongs to my daughter and the new guy in her life. He is a Marine and a very nice guy. We like him very much. The baby is still in the NICU (he was a month early) and had a medical problem that required surgery 10 minutes after birth. He is doing great and is three weeks old. My dcaughter is on Family leave, she had to have a C section and her senior command is trying to assign her to the hospital for her TAD so she will have time off when the baby can finally come home.
Well like I said Ruth... I think a taxi would cost twice that much... maybe more. Heck, that's what this site is all about, right? Moms helping Moms... Moms helping Sailors. I was told by my daughter's recruiters when she was leaving for BC, that if I needed ANYTHING I was to call them... that we are all part of the same Navy family now. Said the rest of the world can't operate like that, huh?
I suspect the cab ride would be more than $30. If he's stuck, and can't find anyone headed in that direction, let me know. I'll drive up to GL and take him to O'Hare. I live about 20-25 minutes from O'Hare, but the better part of a hour to GL... but I'll be more than happy to help him out!
When you are busy, it gives you less time to think about those who are no longer home. My--now that my appointment time keeper is gone, I'm busy with church, church, church, and, and did I say church, as well as my Pampered Chef business. Plus, got a promotion (haa) at work and am a head cook at one of the grade schools---but, I get school holidays off!
Take care
Carol

Thank you so much!! I sure appreciate the effort, whether Justin is actually able to leave or not. It would be wonderful to see him again! :-)
All is well here, just keeping busy this summer. Involved in lots of stuff. All my sailors are doing well. Jackie is in FL now, my Jon is deployed, my nephew is going to be leaving soon. My sister had him home for 2 weeks and of course cried and cried when he left. I talked to him several times, he's such a fine young man. I email Jon daily, wish I heard from him more, I do understand. Hoping he comes to CHGO for a visit over the Christmas Holiday, we will see. Are we ever going to meet up again. If your in the area let me know, we could meet for coffee or dinner. Take care and God Bless.
Tex is adorable! How about a bomber jacket for the stud? We have a girlfriend for him...she is a deer eared chihuahua all red...we call her Lucy but it should be Lucifer...she makes the boys want her but she won't let them have her! But she hates clothes so we leave her in the buff!
Oh Ruth, you crack me up!!! I can just imagine you sitting around with all those little boys making paper airplanes and watching them crash!!! You put a smile on my face that will be hard to wash off today - and for that I thank you!
We're cold this week (supposedly), but nothing like what you are getting up there; ya'll bundle up and stay warm. Hubby has the right idea - snuggle down in a blanket and take a nap!!!
Ruth he is ok and the guys in the truck are as well. they are just so lucky because it split his helment in half and the chest thing they wear. as i said god was really watching them. he called again last night because he know how upset i get. where is your son at?
You sure are Ruth and I am proud to know you. I don't know if you have visited our site, but if you haven't it is www.steelanchor.org. You'll understand once you get there. We are in the process of becoming a 501c3 to help support active duty and former Navy and their families. We have some big time stuff getting ready to happen and will work hard to make it happen for them. As you said, we know what it is like; we're Vet's and we take care of our own and those who care for us. Obviously you do too!
Yes we are also Patriot Guard Riders and we ride proud with them. I am known as "Keyes" on their site and make it a point to acknowledge everyone who is Navy with SteelAnchor. We too love the fact that you are PGR. God Bless you Ruth.
Hi Ruth! Stopping by to see what's new in your world and how Andy's doing. I looked at your Epiphany tree and the pics of the celebration with the girls...I see you have a budding Hannah Montana around your house!!! She's adorable with that pink guitar...actually both of the girls are as cute as bugs and seem to have granny wrapped firmly around their little fingers - right where you should be!!! I am so happy that you get to spend so much time with them. I also loved looking at your Texas pics...man that swimming pool looks inviting!!!
Yes you are right Ruth, just couldnt recall what he called them. We live in SE Missouri and could have used Patriot riders on several occasions. It made the CBS news here on too many occasions, about the protestors showing up. When Ordy gets his non for profit going, you will see his group do amazing things for our Sailors!
