Colton is doing GREAT he is ready to start his adventure into the sea soon !! Whoopie ----- We will be down in SD a few times a year once he gets there !! Who knows where Tucker will go --- lets get him out of BC first :) I heard we have lost one of our babies here from our NY crew !! My Heart & tears goes out to her ---
Pat, when they go out for deployment where do they go? I'm probably asking silly questions but I know nothing about the Navy. Does your son get to come home at all? how much longer are your children in for?
My daughter is just talking with the recruiter now. We are going to sign her permission to go into the DEP program on Tuesday and she will go to MEPS the following week. I am not sure what she will end up doing, she has mention aviation or languages and she scored well on her ASVAT so hopefully she will get something that she likes. She really wants to serve her country which is the main reason she is going. I am new at this and I have a year to prepare, but I believe it will be hard. My heart swells with pride but also aches with worry. It is always hard when your child goes away to school or moves to a different area of the country I suppose, but it seems more dangerous being military.
Pat, I received Colins box on Friday. What is IT? what does your daughter do?how long is sea duty for Ships serviceman?Do they get to come home after A school before they ship out?
Pat, Thanks for getting in touch. My son Colin is 19 and left for boot camp on June 30th. He is my youngest, and I'm having a real hard time with this. At this point he will be a ships serviceman. He was hoping to become a corpsman but according to his recuiter that field is full. Ship serviceman does not sound very exciting but sure sounds safe. How long before I cant expect a letter or a phone call?

Hi Pat,
My son Michael is a Master at Arms, but his job is Mobile Security. He will be on the USS Swift HSV starting next week. I'm not sure what his unit will be doing, but they are supposed to go to Africa. He's really looking forward to it. Is it difficult having two kids in the military? I think it would be hard for me to get used to both of mine being gone. My daughter and her husband and my granddaughter live with us.
Thank You for the comfort words, My son will be IT also, he left Florida on June 25th for bootcamp, he just graduated high school this year in May, he is 18 y.o. My whole family of Men were in the Service, from my Dad(Navy),2 brothers (Navy) 1 brother (Air Force) 1brother (Army) and both of my sister's husbands one was Navy and the other Air Force, then my son's Father was Navy also, and alot of our relatives were military, so we are military all the way, but it still doesn't help when its your baby, my daughter who is 14 y.o. says she is going into the military also, but I think we have a few years for that for her to change her mind (never know though), but I will stand by her decision with whatever she chooses. Hope you had a wonderful 4th, as I did, thanks Again.
hi pat, my son just went in on june 25th, he is going to graduate aug 21 he is in IT. my husband and i could not be more proud. my husband is in the army and getting ready to retire after 20 years but it is very different having a child in the military.
Hi Pat, My son is on the Truman, he is presently undesignated, he was at sub school but couldn't do the academics. He has been on the Truman for about 2 months
Hi Pat, Jesse will be heading to Bootcamp on September 8th. His job will be Aviation Boatswains mate(launch and recovery) I am very proud of his choice. A school will be in Pensicola. I hear it's a nice base!
hi pat my sailor just celabrated her 2 b-day in the middle east, she's 20 now! hoping she can come home for her sister's wedding, in oct. it's our wedding ann. also, so it'd be real special if she could come. She's a IS and that's all i can say, she travels by herself, very lonely. Since starting her second year over there it's seem to gotten worse. Of course when she should have been returing to us, her sister got engaged! now my sailor wishes she would have taken her originial orders and came back to the states, she's missing all the fun wedding things and shopping! I ordered her a bridesmaid dress hopping she makes it. The navy is telling us Maybe 5 days, but it's a 15 hour flight and what if there's lay overs, my husband says don't worry they haven't said she Was comming and she's not on the plan yet. three and a half months to pray yet!!!
Happy 4th gotta get back to work
Hi, Pat. My son is a MA2 on the USS Nimitz. When I saw your son also on the Nimitz, I wanted to write to you. My son, Lee, has been in the Navy since 2000. Just 4 months ago he got done with his third tour in the Middle East. He was in Bahrain, Dubai, Iraq, and Kuwait during those three tours. He is excited about being on ship again. He was on the USS Yorktown when he first got out of A school. After the Yorktown, he changed rates to MA. He really likes it. He is excited about being on an aircraft carrier. We are so proud of him. Happy 4th!

Have a safe Blessed Fourth of July God Bless our troops where ever they may be.
I also was in Navy and I am married to a retired Seabee Chief.
