hello and thanks for sending me a message. My son wants to be a diver or he really has his heart on being a policewhen he gets out. I can't help but to worry becausr he is my only child.
Talk to you soon,
Judy
My son is 20 going to be 21 this month and he went in the navy December, 2006 the year he graduated from high school. He is on the USS George H.W. Bush CVN 77 he does damage control. I have a question about him renewing his driver license everyone told him that he doesn't have to renew it but when I go on the sec of state of michigan it said he does. Do you know anything about this?
My neighbors would think the same thing, but everyone likes my son,he's always got something going on,he's a cutup, but everyone talks about how nice and well mannered he is,he's an outlaw to us,lol, just joking,he's a good kid. He's gonna be an IT or whatever that is,i was wondering what was going on,i figured it was something because he got to call about 4 or 5 times the same day.He said we wouldn't hear from him again for about 2 more weeks,he graduates august 14,i'm really proud of him,my dad and his family was all military, mostly navy except my dad,he was army.My grandfather rode subs during world war 2 and my uncle rode them when he was in,i have a cousin in guam,so i have somebody to give us some pointers, thanks for the info, ttyl
My son wants to be a physical therapist. He will take his ASVAB and meet with his recruiter again this week. He will be a senior this year and wants to leave right after graduation.Iam so nervous for him, yet very proud. Thank you for the support, Im going to need it.
Erin will be leaving for basic training one week from today. She is really excited about it...however, I think reality of leaving her closest friends/family has finally sunk in. Erin is a social butterfly and will be missed by many while she is pursueing her dream. Her plans are to become a rescue swimmer.
Is Ashley your only child then?Colin went to the recuiter in Dec. and swore in then. He was in the DEP program and I kept hoping he would change his mind. I have two other children but they are both quite a bit older. They both live on Columbus, Oho about two hours from here. hope your headache is better.
We have a daughter who will be a college senior next year, so we have gone thru the 'taking to school' routine once. I was sad and miss her, but she was soooo excited (and I very clearly remembered how excited I had been to move into my dorm all those many years ago!) that I was teary, but ok. This is different. He is committed, now, to the Navy and going where they send him. Much scarier...
Very cool Pat. Im sure she'll love that kind of experience. As a seabee I could only dream of a ONE TIME ONLY chance out to sea. I don't intend on trying too hard to that because I would be totally lost. But one time in my career would be pretty damn cool. I'm sure you're breathing a huge sigh of relief. She'll probably lose her itch for IA now that she'll be distracted with this sea duty. We all just get antsy sitting around waiting to do something thats not just something.
My son is 24 and has been in for 4 years. He's an engineman and just received his E-6! He was in Afghanistan a year and a half ago and left for Bahrain June 30, 2009 - for a year. He was stationed on the USS Boone in Jacksonville, FL before leaving last week. My second son will turn 18 in August and has already signed on even though he has his senior year of high school to complete this coming school year. My oldest daughter (27 in August) lives in Dubai UAE of her own free will and my youngest (13) is home with her father and I!!! Life continues to flow quickly!!
Hi Pat! Our son begins college in NY with an NROTC scholarship in August. Phew - this is all new to all of us as we have not been a military family - til now! Extremely proud of him and very emotional at the same time. Hoe were you at first when your son/daughter left?
THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY,SINCE THIS IS NOT MY FIRST CHILD THAT HAS GONE TO BOOT CAMP I HAD THE ADVANTAGE TO KNOW WHAT I MAY EXPECT.IT HAS BEEN VERY DIFFERENT THIS TIME SINCE IT'S TWO SEPERATE BRANCHES OF THE MILLITARY.IM STILL LOOKING FOR MOM'S WITH KIDS IN DIV 264 SHIP 13.IF YOU ARE OUT THERE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.GOOD DAY TO YOU ALL!!!
Hi Pat, My name is Carol and my oldest son, Jake is considering joining the Navy. He has seen a recruiter and taken a practice ASVAB test. He is wanting to be a SeaBee. He was going for a welding degree in trade school, but when his younger brother who just graduated from high school decided to join the Air Force, Jake decided that the military sounded like a wise decision for him too.
LOL its a battle for control of hawaii w/ cheryl ,sponge & U ? Heck Im staying out of that one !! LOL LOL
You want your kiddo's in Norfolk and I want mine out of Norfolk and over at SD (2 hour flight vs 9 hours)
If he gets to Washington let me know as I am about 3 hour drive from there in Oregon. I am trying to get there a little more often to help the sailors in any way.
Thanks for posting in the Undes. room (great moral boost that photo )
Im sending a card to Maxine. I wanted to send flowers but then did some research on customs and found that would not be the correct thing to do. God Bless her heart --
At 5:29pm on July 4, 2009, Brenda Little-Wilson said… It is nice to hear from navy moms so quickly. Caleb (19) left for boot camp a week ago. He signed up for the delayed entry program so he can go reserve and go to college first. He then wants to go to officer training school after college. He is going to Dam Neck, VA after bootcamp for intelligence training. Because of that he won't get to start college until fall 2010. This is very exciting because he has talked about the navy since he was in grade school. I just can't wait to hear from him.
Pat,Thank you for all the info.I understand a little more now. So when they are on a ship you can go visit if the ship is in port? Thats good. I live in Canton,Ohio. I see that you are a nurse. Do you work in a hosp.? Do you specialize in anything in particular? Yesterday was the first day since Colin left that I did not cry. Hopefully this feeling of being lost will go away but it is sooo hard. How did you feel when your tow left?
