Good morning!
It's been awile since our last message;this is just to salute you and your family and to wish the very best to your sailor and to you all.
God bless you!!!
Deborah - Congrats on raising a son willing to serve. My heart goes out to you - what a tough weekend. I can see you have the Go Navy picture up....I'll be watching that game on Dec. 12th, even though I know I won't be able to see my daugher...it will be nice to know our kids are out there, right? Best wishes to your son as he starts the next phase of his Navy adventure!
Can he take the test every day until Friday? He didn't actually say he wasn't graduating, right? Gee, talk about stress right up to the deadline. I hope the recruiter can give you some answers.
Deborah
Did your son call you? If not--then that means he passed the floating test, right? I just found out my boy called his girlfriend over the weekend and said they have their big written test tomorrow, then Battlestations Weds. Keep prayin. I am excited, but nervous and keep checking the clock and my cell phone.
Are you getting excited???!!! How has your son done. He should be although everything and almost a sailor if not already. Just want to let you know I was thinking of you and your son. You must be so excited to see him. The time is getting so close. We follow the week after - everything is going well for my son Brad - Just has BS left. Yeah!! Have a good one. Hugs.
I don't think I will be able to go to meet and greet because we don't even get into OHare until 8:30pm, then by the time we find a shuttle to hotel, check in, it will be time to get some sleep to get up early for graduation. I will look for you, though. I guess they put us all in sections according to what division our sailors are in, so hopefully easy to spot. Daniel has not said what he wants to do, except hang out talk and text his friends. We got a hotel with a kitchen so that I can cook--hopefully I will be able to find a grocery store.
Hi Deborah, we are staying at Residence Inn in Waukeegan-my husband, daughter and me. My Dad and brother are also flying in from Detroit. I am so excited I could spit. I know they still have to get through one more big test and inspection, then Battlestations is, I think, the 29th. I hope our boys call us to inform us when they become sailors. I know what you mean about the phone. I have become neurotic about the cell phone and even take it into the bathroom with me. While I was driving, it fell out of my car and I had to pull over to pick it up immediately--just in case! Looking forward to meeting you. I will be the beaming tall blonde with all the mascara cried off!
Hang in there, Deborah. I know that is easier said than done. It looks like we are staying in different hotels, but I will look for you in the bleachers. It looks like Battlestations will be the 27th or 28th, according to other discussions I was looking at. Keep your cell phone with you then, for sure, cuz I bet he will want to tell you when he passes that! I believe they get their sailor cap (to replace the recruit cap) the morning after that. Of course I am worrying, and will probably be a wreck until I get some word out of him (or his girlfriend--good thing I like her).
hey now glad u feeling better about things....yes i will be so happy to see her...and i know u cannot wait to get letters, phone calls, and everything...ty for the prayers and same to you and your family...will let u know how it went as soon as i can...huggs
morning deborah...i know u are on pins and needles, so was i(smile)..but he will be fine and if he doesn't pass the first time they will work with him until he does...my daughter passed the swimming part but had to redo the floating part..i think she said at least 2 times...they have to float about 5 minutes...don't worry they will teach him how to swim...u should be so proud and write and write...huggssss...i will be seeing my daughter on 9/3...glad it finally made it..seems like it took forever(lol)..hang in there...he will be fine..when u get that letter that says..mom i know this was a good decision u will cry as i did...blessings
Want to let you know I have received my first letter today. I am so happy. He stated theres lots of yelling and setups going on. He stated this is the hardest thing mentally he has ever done. He stated the physical part was easy. He said he was going to make it to the end and would see us on 10-09-09 at graduation. Makes me proud. Hope all is going well with your son. Thinking of you. Lesa
That would be awsome! You don't know how much I would appreciate that. His girlfriends name is Carrie Glynn. Let me know. It is me, my husband Matt, Jake (our older son) Sheree (his wife) and our grandson Ethan going. So if you could add Carrie to your sons list that would be wonderful. My son Aaron is in Ship 9 Div 339
Thanks for the uplifting note today. I know my son is a big boy and can take care of himself. But being a mom you can never stop worrying about our children. Thanks!!
Hey my name is Wendy and our sons are in the same ship/Div. I hope you don't mind me contacting you this way, but it's wonderful that there is another Mom out there that I can talk to. LOL. Has anyone set up a group for our ship/Div? I have no idea how to do it. LOL
I hope you're hanging in there, I spoke with my son yesterday, it was great, though it wasn't personal he needed a fax/info from us, for his security clearance. He sounded upbeat but he did say it was harder then he thought. My husband is a former Marine, so we know the military quite well, you'd have thought he would have listened to his Dad. LOL
My kid is also going to IT school as your son is. I can't wait to hear about your son and how you're doing with this whole "boot camp" thing. I hope this wasn't too long. I look forward to hearing from you. Wendy
Thanks for adding me to your friendship list. My son just arrived at boot camp on 08-12-09 with PIR 10-09-09. So just getting started on all this new. Received the form letter and to day I received his box of clothes. I am sure he will do fine with basics. Just hoping all goes well for him.
I received a letter from my son today. He is in Ship 111 Division 333. Have you received your letter yet? (Of course, calling it a letter is a bit of a stretch. It was actually about three handwritten lines from him on a standardized letter! But, I will welcome anything he sends me.) I was just glad to hear from him.
Believe me, I know how you feel. I really miss my son, too. I hope to receive a letter soon so I can find out how he's doing. I looked at the weather and saw that it's going to be really hot in Chicago this upcoming week, so PT is probably going to be rough. Please keep in touch and let me know if you hear from your son.
I would think he's graduate the last Fri inn Sept or the 1st Fri in Oct. This is the link to RTC Great Lakes graduation schedule which is usually updated each Friday. http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp
