Hi Jessesmom. I tried to add you as a friend but I'm not sure it went through. I'm from Mocksville too and my son just started his A school a couple of weeks ago. Three of us Navy Moms met for lunch recently and plan to get together for lunch again sometime in July and I wanted to see if you would like to join us. If you do I'll send you more details. I hope you son is doing OK.
Just wanted to let you know your son is in our prayers. My son graduates from BC next week. In the few calls I have had from him he has more than once mentioned how depressed he is and thinks he made a big mistake. He is in for six years. I'll be there for his graduation next week. We will be having a long talk. I send him letters of encouragement almost every day hoping that will help to pull him through this. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I hope since the time you asked for advice that you've been able to get some help for him.
Hi , I just wanted to know if there is any change with your son? Is he feeling better? and did he get some help?I know, lots of questions but I'm truly worried. Please let me know. Karin
Hi. I'm replying in response to your post regarding discreet help. Wanted to let you know that my daughter is getting help for a similar situation. The doctor prescribed her antidepressants and it apparently wasn't a big issue at all. She's on her first deployment and has really been struggling. I was so proud of her for taking that risk! If you want to talk more, let me know. Good luck with your son.
Hi Jessesmom, Welcome aboard. My son's PIR is next Friday, June 26! I can't wait. There is another lady from Mocksville. Her son is in the Nuke program in Charleston. Check out Ginny S. (She's great to talk to!)
I tried to add you as a friend on myspace, but didn't know your last name or email address. My url is : www.myspace.com/brettsiesgirl
Would love to have another Navy Mom friend!!
Sincerely,
Bobette
I understand completely, I cried for 2 days. Now I'm making plans to go to GL next weekend for PIR. It will be here before you know it. This site has really helped me get through it
Laurie~ I know how you feel. Aaron is my only child and this empty nest thing is being the absolute most dificult thing I've ever experienced in my life. I thought it would get better after boot (hearing from him more often) but it hasn't. Funny how we look forward to what may happen in their adult life and have a sort of excitement for them. When you're in it, the excitement for them is still there but the total emptyness doesn't seem to subside much. The tuff days? Well Tuff is an understatement. I don't mean to bum you out but this is my reality... at least for now.
Wow, thank each and every one of you for your replies. It really made a difference. I'm not the only one going through this. (but it feels like it sometimes, dosen't it) I'm sooo thankful for this site .I can't come here every day because I get a little overwhelmed, I'm a wuss I guess, but I really pity all our mothers who had children out there and no one to talk to about things. Thank You Navy moms for being there for us.
sincerely, laurie cousins in NC
I know what you're feeling. My son leaves July 10, 2008 for Great Lakes. It's been hard. Seems like every other day I breakdown. Know you are not alone and that there are many many prayers for our boys. God Bless.
I know what you are going thru. My son was the first to leave the nest also. He left on July 11,2007 for bootcamp. It was very hard to see him leave. He did his PIR on Sept.7,2007. That was awesome. He is now stationed in Sasebo, Japan. Will be there for 3 years. I wish you and your son the best of luck.
Hi Laurie my name is Pattie My son has been in for 2 and a half years it's hard at times but being a part of a group has been very helpful to me anything I can help you just let me know
Oh Laurie, I know exactly what you mean. I did everything to prepare myself for the separation when my Son left for bootcamp, but it doesn't seem to matter how much you do prepare yourself, it still hurts. I have a very bad case of "The Empty Nest Syndrome. It's something I have to work through everyday.
My Son in Law went through bootcamp a week earlier than my Son and now they are both in Pensacola starting A School. Once they got to Pensacola, my Daughter, Grandbaby and DIL all moved up there. That is the hardest for me to accept. They are all grown up and gone now.
I AM SO VERY PROUD OF THEM!!!
These Navy Moms and Navy Parents websites WILL help you get through each day. We are all here to help each other.
Have a great day Laurie.
Hi Laurie. My son is entering the DEP program in June .. how has this program been for your son? Do you think it is helpful? I too am so worried about this career choice for my son, however the more time I've spent on this site the more I've learned. I LOVE IT! Nice to meet you. Take Care. Vickie
