Hi Jodi-I know you were feeling a little blue today missing your son. SERE will be no problem for him-just like my son he is focused and determined to make it happen!
Get a blue candle-if you don't have one already-and light it every night for SERE and before you know it he will call you! And start planning that Jax trip-it will come around sooner than you think!
Hi Jodi: Thank you for your friend request (I hope I'm responding in the right place). :-) My son is in the DEP and is scheduled to go to bootcamp in September. He initially signed up for a different rating but is working with his recruiter to get an AIRR contract. I'm a nervous wreck but he's very excited! How long has your son been in Pensacola?
Thanks for the advice. My SR got the position for a fireman. He signed for 5 years. Active duty. Yes it can be frustrating at times without proper communication and discussing future plans, especially when they change, like they did. Anyways thanks again so much, that really helped. Thank God for this website, it makes me feel way more connected and feel open to ask for help because I know you all understand and know what it's like. So thank you, thank you.
It's good to see you "back" and what a great thing you are doing for your son's best friend. How is your son liking A School in Pensacola? Please chime in on the PIR group if there is something you can answer, we love the help from those that have just been through it.
Hi! my son is also Ship 4, Div 818. He is a recent grad and his contract is AIRR I am enjoying perusing this site for all of its great info, also working on travel plans for Aug 31st. Hope we can chat!
My son has signed up to be an engineman. His recruiter wants him to do nukes casuse of his asvab score but he is hesitant to change. He turns 18 on the 21st of next month and graduates high school may 24th then leaves for bootcamp july 2nd so we have lots of going on in the next few months. Sounds like your son will enjoy his choice.
the book that helped michael the most is asvab for dummies it raised his score 30 pts in 30 days it breaks it all down in lamen terms he studied an hour a day and took the practice tests on military.com great tools
he retakes in june kind of stinks he took it once didnt score well then in 30 days he took it agin and gained 30 points so they had him do a conframation test he scored higher on that one but they would not count it towards his job points so he will retake it again he wants to work in the k9 unit in the navy his contract is 4 years but he wants to make it a career like his grandfather did in the arm and retire a warrant. im a little nervious about the retake because his date for boot camp could move up and be before aug.
hello jodi-josh's mom do you find yourself looking at all the location by the naval base i do lol guess it makes me feel better. i think we will stay at the ramada it seems to be near the places to visit. do you plan on attending the meet and greets activities?
jodi. thank you for ;your comment as of right now my son leaves for GL aug 7. it could change due to he is retaking his asvab in june to try and improve so he can change his job to law enforcement keeping my fingers crossed. it would be neat though if our kids are together at boot camp then we can meet. ive tried to support them in everyway possible being a single mom of two boys can be challenging but very worth it.
