Well, I'm impressed...don't think I could type that well or that much on a phone! We're staying at the Ramada. Don't know if you looked at the phone on my page, but I dont' quite look the same...just cut off about 3.5 inches of hair...DANG! Still in a bit of a shock! Oh, well...it grows back, right? You guys be safe and enjoy your vaca!
Bev., Graduation was wonderful! I took a lot of pics. I hope that one is of your daughter. Does she wear glasses? The girl that led the flag holders from the left side was a short girl with dark hair and glasses. I will try to email you the pics this weekend. Hopefully, one is of her....
Hi Bev, I was reading on Navy Mom's for Daughters that your daughter is PIR 7/3/08. What division is she in? My daughter is in DIV 241. They got to BC on 5/12 and they pushed them through early to PIR on 7/3. It has gone by way quicker than an I excepted! Good Luck to your daughter! Denise F.
Hi Linda - yes, it is a small world!!! Dinosaur, is that toward Grand Junction or further South? Thank you for the kind words, we are very excited to see our kid! I hope you have a great trip too! What will your daughter be doing after PIR? My oldest daughter graduated from CSU a year ago last May - GREAT UNIVERSITY!! GO RAMS!!!! lol
Bev: caught your name on navy mom's of daughters and I noticed your from Fort Collins. We live in Dinosaur, we were born and raised in Denver. My son goes to CSU. Just goes to prove what a small world it is. My daughter has PIR July 11. Have a safe trip to Chicago and may God bless your time together with your daughter.
That would be awesome...I would so appreciate it!! Is your son-in-law in BC right now as well? I bet you are way busy! I thought I was overwhelmed! Does he PIR 7/3, as well?
Bev, I read the same! I hope you don't mind, but I sent your daughter a Battle Stations Encouragement card since I had her address. Some of us mothers did that for several of the kids. I just hope they get to them in time. We are staying at the Ramada. Another mother from Oklahoma stayed there and said it was nice. I completely understand about being attached to the phone. I am so afraid of missing a call!! I am just a little obsessed lately... We'll make it, though!
I agree...nothing like hearing their voice. My daughter's name is Tawni McGinnis...same division and ship as yours. Tawni will go to A school across the street as well for 6 months. She is going to be a Gunner's Mate. She choose it because it had the longest school time...go figure! Are you going to the Pre PIR get together? We are...can't wait to meet everyone!
Bev...Have you received a phone call from your daughter lately? We have only received the one a few weeks ago and thought we would have received another by now. I'm reading that we will hear from them after Battle Stations. BTW, what is your daughter's name?
I'll do what I can. I plan on getting there very early and get a good seat. I will be taking pics. of everything. LOL So, hopefully I will be able to get one of her.
Hey, it's me again. I was just going to leave you a message when I saw that you left a post for me on your page. I will take pictures of anyone around the flags in hopes of getting one of your daughter....
Hi Marie - it's me again! About that picture...it's more complicated now and I understand if you don't want to bother with it... my daughter won't be carrying the Oklahoma flag afterall - she got appointed as a leader for the flag team. I have no idea where that places her...but she won't be carrying a flag now. Thanks so much anyway!!!! BTW, she's just a little tiny/skinny girl, last name of Pickering if you should spot her... Take Care, Bev
All,
With the website being so screwy the last few days, I wanted to post this on everyone's page individually and hope that you will see it.
1. I've posted the June birthdays. Please get a card out to these recruits somewhere around their birthday. It would be really hard to be so young and away from your family for your birthday.
2. I've posted our only anniversary. Please remember David and Consuela on their FIRST wedding anniversary.
3. I've posted a list of about 30 FEMALE sailors who are graduating soon (6-6-08) and have received little or no mail since starting bootcamp. I think this is terribly sad. They need our support going into battlestations. If everyone would pick 5-10 names (please don't all start from the top) and send them a 99-cent card of encouragement, I think it would really pick up their spirits. They have to be feeling fairly unloved. You can sign your name or not...your choice. I personally will commit to sending 15 cards starting from the bottom of the list up. Pam, I'm counting on you to send 15 starting from the top down. Everybody else, just jump on in somewhere. We've got to get these girls some mail!
4. If I missed your recruit's birthday or anniversary, please let me know and I'll send out another post.
All this stuff can be found on my blog. You have to be my friend to see it (to protect the identity of specific recruits). I think I've sent friend requests to everyone on the list, but if I missed you, send me a request!
I tried to send this as a group message, but I don't think that function works very well. If you've gotten it twice, please forgive me.
Please ask your son/daughter to look around at mail call and notice who's not getting letters. Our PIR group would like to "adopt" these recruits to let them know someone is thinking about them.
We'll need full names (which might be a problem because they use only last names) and ship/division.
Please either PM me through the website or send me an email at mrsmcgee@aol.com with the names. Do not post them in a public forum.
I will post a private blog and let you all know if there's any recruit in need.

I had to remove the post about Sonia's daughter needing some encouragement. Instead it is in a private blog (this is OK, per N4M admin). Please check it out and help her if you can.

Also, moms with kids who have birthdays during bootcamp, there is info for you in that blog, too. You have to be my "friend" to read it, so if we're not friends yet, either accept my invitation or send me one.

You have to be my "friend" to view it, so it's private.
If you get a chance, please drop a birthday card in the mail. These recruits will be SO surprised.
