He is at Goose Creek as a Nuke. He's going for fnMM--fireman machinist mate or fire up the engines, sailor. He also wants to go to welding for submarine emergency repairs. If so, he remains state side in classes for 18 months, which is nice for a mom's worries. After that--who knows?
Thanks for the comment on the pix. That was a lucky shot. It is actually in front of the water wall at the Chicago Cheesecake factory/John Hancock building.
Hi Allison! We are fine. We were very lucky and had very little damage from Hurricane Ike. Lost power for about 4 hours on Sunday from the second set of storms, cable was out for about a day, and phone service was off and on. Many of our neighbors lost parts of their roofs and had water in their houses. We were very lucky! School is out all week. Michael is in A school in South Carolina and he's doing fine too. He's glad to have a computer and cell phone again - and it's been really nice to hear from him more often. I'll bet your son and his wife are so happy that they are going to be together again! Thanks for keeping in touch!
Hi Allison, just wanted to stop by and welcome you to the AE/CF group. Our son has been in A school since April as an FC. Will Daniel be an FC or ET? We have both in our group and alot of great moms to support you or answer any questions that you may have.
These pics are a bit backwards, we go from just before we left Dan at the base to going to the Meet and Greet with the N4M's but that is okay,at least i have them on now!
Well graduation was a few weeks ago now, and it was amazing, i still have yet to put up pics, but I will. Have been working like crazy trying to catch up. Miss him soooo much! Soon his wife will be heading out to live with him as she misses him even more! I was soooo proud to see my son in his uniform and see him graduate. He is amazing!
HI I am great nervous excited and all. I hate leaving my husband home as he is Dan's stepdad and and feels it best for just us to go, and not being able to get the time off for work. I will let everyone know how it went when we get back. thanks all! : )
Hi Alison-
Good luck Friday. It is the most moving and prideful thing you can witness. To see your child so straight, true and proud of what they have accomplished. It's just so emotional. I never felt so happy to be a citizen of this country than after I saw those kids standing at ease. I will never forget that experience. Enjoy your time in the Great Lakes!
Hi my sons PIR is this friday actually Aug. 15. I am so proud of him. It is funny I have always said there is the sea in our blood, not realizing that it would someday lead to my son being a Sailor. I can't wait to see him and hug him. I was used to talking to him everyday and actually talked to him for the first time yesterday in 8 weeks. I will look up the PIR 8/15 thanks! everyone is wonderful here !
Hi Alison! My son, Michael, is in DIV 290, Ship 11 also. I just found out about this site last Friday and have been on it off and on all weekend, trying to learn as much as I can. There's a large group of moms from PIR 8/15 in a group by that name. Lots of great people and lots of great info! You should go to it and ask any questions you want - someone will probably have the answer for you! There's a link to it on the left side of my page if you haven't found it already. Good luck - I know you are proud of your son!
