Logan is still at GL as well. He thinks he will only be there about 21 days and then off to Virginia. Unfortunately, Virginia is farther from home than GL. It was wonderful seeing him, but really hard leaving. I cried and cried. We were very fortunate that he got to actually spend the night with us Friday and Saturday night. We had a great time with him. I hope Tawni can have her cell phone now. Logan has his, so it has been easier getting to talk to him daily. Thanks again for all the support. Please keep in touch.
He is not sure right now how long he will stay at GL for A school. He thinks he is scheduled to go to Norfolk, Virginia by 9/20/08, but is not really sure about the date. He will be on the USS Georgre H W Bush Aircraft Carrier. Virginia is still a long way from home, but at least it is still a place we can drive to. We are leaving Thursday. I can hardly wait. Where is your daughter now?
I just wanted to let you know that Logan made it. He called Saturday to tell us he is now a sailor. Thanks again for the encouragement and prayers. It helped to get him through.
Wow, sounds wonderful. I am so proud for you and your daughter. What is her address? I would like to send her a congratulations card. She did it!!!! I have heard it is a very emotional experience. I just can't wait to see Logan. Just to let you know, Logan's last letter was more upbeat. All those prayers and words of encouragement are working. Where is your daughter going to A school?
Hello Valle, Thanks for the friend request....it's always good to hear from another OK mom! : ) From your page, it looks like your daughter just graduated? Congratulations to you & her! Where is she headed now?
Valle, I just wanted to thank you again for sending Logan a card. I got a letter from him today and he said that "someone" from Oklahoma had sent him a card. Every letter he writes, he thanks us for writing and for having others write him. He said it helps him not feel as lonely. Thanks again for the support. You are wonderful!!!!!
Hey Valle! Wow wish I was almost there we are in the middle of nebraska-oh boy-yawn! We should be in there wed night sometime. We are staying at the homewood suites in lincolnshire.I will look for you at graduation if we don't meet before then. Forgive my typing this is from my itty bitty blackberry and it's kinda hard to type on!lol

No problem! My son-in-law, Chris, is currently in week 5 of bootcamp. Lucky him, his is exactly 8 weeks!!! Megan's is/was 9. His bc grad date is July 18, which works out well because his parents can take out Megan's stuff for A school with them. He is also going in for Hospital Corpsman, he hopes to end up as a surgical assistant. So, theoretically, they should be together kinda like dating in A school, and I think for C school they can actually live together.
Hey Valle, thanks for sending her a card, I'm sure she will appreciate it. I currently have my hands full writing to both Megan and her husband nearly everyday - man, I think I'm keeping the post office in business!!! Three more days of work and I'm on vacation, and on my way to GL, the time is flying by. Megan said in her last letter that bc is going fine, but she is ready to move on...gee what's THAT about??? lol I bet they are all ready!!! I can't imagine the anticipation they are all feeling by now. She also said the time is going by quickly, so that's good. Also, I made arrangements with a mom going to PIR this week to take pictures of the color guard - I'd be happy to forward those on to you as well, if you'd like. Tawni may very well be in them :o)
Thank you so much. We have not heard a thing from him. We were hoping for a phone call this weekend, but didn't get one. I'll put something on my blog when I hear something from him. Thanks again for the support.
Valle - it seems like I read somewhere in here that battlestations for 933 is on June 30...so this is an all night event... I wonder if the phone call would be in the morning??? Do you know anything about it??? I know nothing about this stuff.......I'm worried about missing a phone call I carry my cell phone everywhere - and now, I have a 3 hour meeting at work tomorrow and I'm worried she'll call during that time and I'll have to gracefully exit the meeting. How bad is THAT?????? lol....I think I'm over the edge.......
Gunner's Mate..wow!!! That is impressive! Our girls should know each other? Anyway, we won't be going to the pre-PIR dinner. This trip is combining with our vacation. We will be leaving Colorado Saturday morning and we are driving up to the Upper Penninsula of Michigan and will end up at Great Lakes sometime Wednesday night, late I imagine. We hope to get a good nights rest and hoping Megan gets a generous liberty. It's such an unknown... where are you staying?
Hi Valle - just like you, only one phone call so far. It was a nice 45 minute long phone call, but the only one. She has been sending ALOT of letters though, so we have a good idea of what's going on. It's just not the same as talking on the phone though. My daughter is Megan Pickering, Ship 06, DIV 933. After graduation her A school for Hospital Corpsman will be across the street from where she is now. I wonder if our daughters know each other??? What's your daughter's name and where is she going after bc? I'm so anxious to see my kid I can't stand it! How are you holding up?
Your welcome! I sent Leta an email asking her the correct ship/div but i havent heard back so we will go with the one on the blog... I know Tina has been keeping up with this for some time now on who goes with what ship/div... so that one probably is correct...
