Hi Cheryl - I noticed that you had said that your son was a bone marrow match for someone. My 18 year old daughter is currently in Guam and will be coming to the states (Georgetown University Hospital) around Sept 8 for the same thing. We are familiar with the marrow procedure as I have had 2 transplants myself, but I am wondering about the process with the DoD. Did you go with him? I know she is allowed a companion so I will definitely be there but I am such a planner that I have a million questions. Any information you have would be great! Thanks - Kristen
Thanks for sharing your prayer request for a strong navy man to come into your sailor life.
I know my son is struggleing with this too.
Pray for the Secreatry of the Navy and all the Navy offericers that make hard core descision about money, rates, movement of the sailors etc.

Thanks for the nice welcome!. i haven't been on since I worked the last 2 days and I do 10 hour days and I'm on the computer all day. Can't look at a comp after work. I'm off tomorrow so I ventured on today.Lindsey is my first one to join, and she is finishing MA school in Va beach. She graduates this Tuesday and is coming home until Feb 15th. she'll get to go up for her twin sister Lauren's grad from boot on Feb 13th!. What a great luck for them. They are so close and the separation has been hard for them. She then leaves for Okinowa on Feb 16th. She's so excited! Her sister is staying at Great Lakes for internal communications school. I got a letter from Lauren yesterday and she sounded pretty good. Nervous about all the tests coming up! The stress is pretty great in boot. Well good luck to you all as well and I'm sure we'll be in touch again.
Hi Cheryl,
Sam just sent me a picture of her while on bow safety. She also got her first evaluation today. It was good but said she had to work on her leadership abilities. She is kind of a hot head/inpatient, but very sweet girl once you get to know her. She does wear green and is very small so everything swallows her. We tried to find a pair of work gloves here to send her that may fit her better. She does work on deck and I think now has been moved to nights. This is her first time out, and when she left for basic was her first time away from home. We used to talk everyday so its been hard. But everytime I get a letter from her I can tell she is growing up. This was a good decision for her to make and we are very proud of her. We live in a small town in MO so there is not much here to offer them when they graduate High School.
I will have to ask her if she knows your son. Its always nice to have something in common with someone when your child is so far away.
cheryl, christina has been on the ship since it left in sept from virg. she started out in the preflight control tower for awhile then they put her in her rate /job as an aviation boatsman mate fueler. she wears the purple shirt. she was working nights but after they left port this last time she was put on days. she is a hard worker and gets along with hust about everyone, comes from a small town in illinois with about 1200 people. the navy has been a great growing and learning place for her. she started off in chicago a school for med then didn't like that and transferred to flo. tech school and enjoys that much better. course she had to spread her wings alot and i think that made her sick and worn down too much playing but she has settled down and has fun within limitations now. she had a boyfriend here but he knew she was leaving and long distant rel r hard so they have remained friends and he is ur neighbors cross the street so that makes it nice. i think she is an e2 or 3 not sure. she works below deck right now but has been on deck with the planes. sorry to ramble just love to talk about her.
thanks for the info. yes i think my daughter is a beauty but then i'm kinda parctial(sp) she has been in for alittle over a 1 1/2 now this is her first deployment and first xmas away from home. tell me about ur son. what does he do and any pics. right now she has alot of friends and aquantinces no serious things yet. she is close to her family and a daddy's girl this has been a great experience for her and she loves the navy now.
Thank you for the warm welcome. My son,Matthew is in the CRMD. He has been in for 28 months. It is so hard not to be able and pick up the phone and call him when I need to hear his voice..I am so glad I have the saved messages on my voice mail.. Anytime I need to hear his voice .. it is there!
Not to mention the checking my e-mail every hour to see if I received a message!

Oh Cheryl that's okay! I don't get on here much myself but I sure do feel better after I read through! I sure do miss my Josh and am having crying times more with the holidays here. This site helps me suck it up and keep going. Josh turns 21 in April and I think he will still be onboard at that point, from what he has told me that is. I hope Daniels headaches have decreased? I hate this cold weather and Josh hates the hot waether, wish I could trade with him! Talk to you later. Take care of yourself!
Hey Cheryl,
Yes Ma'am. This is Chris' first deployment. Its killing me not talking to him when I want to....lol. I was wishing this deployment would go fast, but it seems like its going by soooo slowly. C'mon April. Are you going to VA when they pull in? I'm gonna be there with bells on!!!!!
Hi Cheryl, It isn't a problem. I remember how it was. When I was working there would be times that I wouldn't be on my computer for a few weeks. Just not enough time in a day to do all that we would like to do.
I am sorry to hear about your sons headaches. My daughter suffers from migraines. The medication she takes makes her tired too. He will be in my prayers as always.
Take care and stay in touch, when you can.......Deb
Hey Cheryl. My son, Chris, is aboard the USS Theodore Rossevelt CVN 71. His job title is ADAN (aircraft mechanics mate) I think this is the longest I've gone without talking to him ={. He's been in the Navy for a little over 2 years now. He's loving it. His goal is to become a pilot and fly well enough to become a Blue Angle. Thats been a dream of his since he was 2. May God Bless you, all of our Military, and their familys during the upcoming holiday season.......Linda from FL
