Hi! I got to this website by a blessed accident......you see I'm not that computer savy and I made a mistake in a blog. This is my first time blogging. I'm not familiar with many terms, I just try to navigate through! I didn't know I could get in touch with folks in Norfolk who could maybe have similar experiences. I am sorry for not following the rules! I didn't mean it.
Nancy,
Thanks so much for posting the pics of the deployment. I just have discovered Navyformoms.com and have downloaded your pictures. We were not able to be there for the deployment and hated not having any pics, but thanks to you I have some now. My son was a line handler and I couldn't find him in any of the pics, but thats OK, I enjoyed them anyway. We probably will not be able to be there when they come back home, so i hope you will also take pics and post them as well. I appreciate all that you have down. From one mom to another.
Thanks Again,
Cheri
Hi Nancy, I've been posting in this group for awhile, but have had to stop posting due to a falling out with my son and his fiance who took great offense at mom talk. It kills me to not be able to post and chat and learn from fellow moms, but in order to mend relations with my son and fiance, I must.
I do have a question though. Do you know anything about Phase Office at Norfolk? Bryan just arrived to Norfolk last week. He spent all of four days with his squadron - Fleet Angels (choppers - shore duty), and was told he's transferring to the Phase Office. He's an AM and was just getting to know a handful of guys in his squadron and now will start over again with a new group of guys. He didn't know much about Phase Office except that it's about a year long and he will advance through three phases of learning helicopter mechanics. Heard of it??
Wow, that is great. Will that make him an E-5 or E-6?
180 days of crank...ugh...Stephen won't enjoy that very much, he though it would only be 90 days.
Any word on when he will be home??
Are you going on the Tiger cruise?
Hi Nancy, How are you?? How is your son?? Stephen finished his first C school. He finished 2 weeks early. He will be coming home for 10 days, then will be in Norfolk for his second C school. That will last 45 days, then he will get 2 weeks back at home before he has to report to the Bataan.
I eailed my son Matt, and he confirmed that he sat with your family for the Family Cruise. He seems to be doing ok with the deployment, at least I haven't heard any negatives. he'll be in 2 yrs at the end of the month. Glad to be able to 'meet' a friend's mom.
Just got back from Dam neck and Norfolk for the 4th. I drove Stephen's truck up to him so he could have it. He is doing really well in school and likes it alot. He says they are ahead of schedule. He got his E4 last week too!! He will be finished in Dam neck in Sept. and will have a second school for 1 month in Norfolk, then has to report to the ship some time in November.
Hi Nancy. I think my son Matt is a friend of your son. M att had told me his friend's mom belonged to a website, bue he for moms, but he couldn't remember whic one. Thankfully I found this site a little over a week ago, and Matt says his friend's mom's name is Nancy W*****.
Hi Nancy, Stephen said he emailed the Master Chief FC on the USS Bataan and they assigned him an FC 2 for his sponsor, but cannot remember his name. Is your son an FC 2??
He is really excited about getting to the ship. He says that they told him he had 2 schools and they were going to be about 7 months long. However, his orders state that he is to report to the USS Bataan in September. Doesn't make any sense. Oh well, I am sure he will figure it out.
my daughter is uss bataan reported on march 25th she completed a school gl i=I cant say where they are right now ,but this has been harder than I thought it would be,you are so used to just picking up the phone and calling and you cant, when she called she sounded so lost, but happy new friends etc, this is going to be long
Hi Nancy
My son is on the USS Anzio. He did tell me that he needed lots of undergarments and socks! So we are going a week before he leaves and spend time with him and go shopping. I will ask him what is on the ship and what is not. Thanks so much

How is your son???
How is the deployment??
Is this his first deployment??
I told Stephen that he already has a friend of the ship. He is so excited, and really can't wait to get to his ship.
I saw the pictures of their deployment. They were so cool.
Anything would be helpful. Thanks, Barbara
He was wondering how long the school is???
Please let me know any info you have. Thanks
