Laura, I live in Southern California. I so wish I could move closer too. oh well. it's all good, right? :) how long did your daughter take off after A school? any idea how long it will be before she gets to start power school? I hate roaches, UGH!! oh well maybe I'll bring a raoch bomb myself! LOL. I to love this site, thanks for your help and responses! how close are you to NNPTC?
Laura, I am wondering if you might have. the phone number to the Villas. I see you stayed there in sept and I am going to go see my son in march. thanks
Is this a for sure thing? Spence said that it was the civilians that messed up cuz they didn't do what they were supposed to and didn't show it right to Navy. The Navy people getting fired is the first we have heard, we heard it was all civilians that got fired. Some Navy people got reprimanded, but that was all we heard.
When are they announcing to all the kids that this is happening? Of course Spence knows nothing about it - he is home, I just asked him. He of course is not thrilled if it is true because that means he has to start over from scratch for Prototype.
Hi Laura,I am glad to hear your daughter will be home for Christmas. She must live near by. You have great weather there. I would love to live near the beach. Do you live right in Charlston? I don't think I would like the critters either. But AZ has snakes, scorpions and coyotes. I never see them. Most places have something scarry. My sister lives on the Oregon Coast. And they have a wood stove on all year long. They always go to Mexico in Dec or Jan. Just to get warm. Then they pass through Tucson to get to Mexico. We see them twice a year. I would like to see your pictures. You and your husband are a beautiful couple. You Have a safe and Merry Christmas. You said your other daughter will not be home for Christmas? I am just happy to have Patrick home. Take care, Laura
Hi Laura, Thank you for your kind words. I think this bed is the same size. But it will feel good to be at home.It really took him along time to arrive here.I am glad all the kids so far are safe. Do you like SC alot better? It get pretty hot here in the summer. I can take the heat. Not the cold.Tomorrow it will be 67 degrees. What about SC temp? Do they get snow? I lived in Ohio for 2 yrs. I could not deal with scraping the windows before work. I got cold to the bone. Where is your daughter Lauren now? Will you see her for Christmas?I never got a chance to go to SC. When Patrick was there. But I will get to go to NY. And I am really looking forward to it. He will be there when the weather warms up.Will you daughter be on a carrier? Patrick wants sub. I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful Christmas. Laura
Hi Laura,I Have a son, Patrick that is MM3 in Balston Spa, Nuclear Prototype Training. And He is on his a plane to be home in Tucson AZ tonight. You must be very proud of your daughter. She is a officer? Or a student at the nuke school? Will Lauren be home for Christmas? I also was reading over the nuke mom's site. Do you really think that they will send the sailors back to Goose Creek to finish Prototype? We never hear anything about Prototype trainning in N4M's I wonder why. We only hear about Balston Spa in NY. He started his classes on Dec 3,2008. He still has a ways to go. I appericate any information you can pass on to me. Thank you. I am Laura also.
No worries. I understand why you can't say. I just talked to my son - we talk online at night, and he doesn't even know when they are starting back up. He is so frustrated it is unbelievable.
Laura - it wasn't that I was upset, but it is the first I have been able to hear of anything going on, and I just want Spence to be able to graduate. They don't even know when he is going to start up again! It is so frustrating!!!!
Hey Laura, just dropped in to see where Lauren is now and how she's liking her training. I'm sorry to see that you have experienced second hand the ugly side of Military life! Most people I've met here have a deep respect and love for humanity (even if they don't agree with a persons personal choices) and our country, they feel all sailors are heros and would be just as saddened as you to hear news of these things. :[
My heart goes out to those Moms! Another N4M lost her son this weekend in motorcycle accident as he was returning to his base in Norfolk VA., the community here has rallied around her. I hope you can be an encouragement to your neighbor. Please tell her we all send our love and sympathy, her family has made the ultimate sacrifice. My husband lost his brother in an accident while he was training in the AF. I would be happy to send her a card or to be available to her. My son is going to be a combat medic... there but for the grace of God go I. Take care!
btw: I'm still waiting for my "lobstah" story! Did you decide to move after all?
what the hell is wrong with country, that we would rather beat up gay people, than people who are against us. I'm pretty sure the gay population isn't trying to fly planes into an NY buildings. Get over your gay fears and your rellgious right. Not every person can be like you. Accept a person who put thier life on the line, for our country and acept them as being a great American heroas they should be
iv'e heard from someone today in the Coast Gaurd in the Arabian Gulf. She said she watched a close friend of hers get beat up because the person was thought to be a lesbian. She was beat up by her fellow shipmates. Kicked in the ribs and kidneys. She said she couldn't protect her because they would turn on her. Is this what the military is? A bunch of rednecks that would boot each other or kill thier own. I think maybe in GL they could teach them tolerance and respect for each other. Who knows, maybe that gay person might save tier lives.
I am so very sad. Two boy's from our town died this weekend becuase of this war. We live in a very small town. One boy was my neighbor. He was only 19 years old. He use to come around and sell popcorn to us for the boy scouts.. We saw his mom 3 weks ago and she told us he was in Iraq. Why doesn't the miliatery take the crazy's anymore. They only want to see the best of America die? I don't understand this.
Thanks Laura. That means a lot. Got a letter from him today. He said BC was starting to get to him. My husband, is an ex-Navy guy, so he's going to write Morgan and see if he can help out some. I get so emotional when it comes to my two boys. Since I wasn't suppose to have children, these two are very special to me. Thanks again.
Hi Laura, I oopsed. :P... Sorry, had both the Corpsman group and the "A" school group tabs opened side by side on the computer. Then I had to run and take my daughter to piano right after I hit "add comment" and didn't notice the error! A failed attempt at multitasking! Geesh, thanks for saying something. Still impressed with your girl though!
I know what you mean about those winters, I was raised in the suburbs of Seattle and had never seen snow piled that high or been that cold! Or that HOT come to think of it, it gets a little muggy after it rains in WA, but not as humid as the summer in MA!! As you can see by my page, I'm rather fond of the Ocean too, we've got good taste! :-) Have a good one...
Hi Laura, welcome to the Corpsman Moms group! My son just classed up today. His PIR was 6/27. I "know" many of the great gals in your PIR group. Did you make the dinner at Flanagans? Sounds like it was a small group, everyone was so tired and/or delayed getting there. It's all so worth it when those hall doors open though, wasn't the ceremony AMAZING??!! Bravo Zulu to your sailor girl! =) I think the HM school is harder for them to get into, there doesn't seem to be a large crew of girls there right now. I'm sure you're so proud of her!
I have to tell you too that you live in one of my favorite places in the U.S. I spent a year living in Brookline as a teenager. One of my lasting memories is of having a Lobster cook out at one of my Dad's friends places on Cape Cod. Love the history of that area too. :-)
Hello Laura:
Thank you so very much for this information. I really appreciate it and I hope you enjoy your evening. I hope to talk to you again soon. :>}
