"Portrait of a Friend"

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
search for answers.

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship,
from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.

Hey been really busy at work but wanted to say thanks for the info and update you. M has an arachoid cyst. He called and told me to backoff cause it is causing him problems with a mom asking questions. They are trying to discharge him now. All I want is a medical release form to get MRI's and CAT scan to dr's here. They aren't doing anything for him and i believe he should be on meds to reduce cyst according to DR. here.
Also in case i don't say it later have a great time seeing D!!!!!!

Where has the summer gone? Time sure has flown by, but keeping busy keeps my mind busy too:) Hope you're doing well..altho it sounds like you've been busy! I'm so glad Dakota is doing so well, and I hope that all his dreams come true!! Please keep me posted..I'm definitely in his cheering section!!!! Brandon is doing well at school..after it finally started!! He has a tentative grad date of Sept. 2nd, and should be home for 2 weeks sometime after that...as you know, it won't come soon enuf!! He has been kicking around his picks as well, and looks as though he may be leaning towards Japan, but we'll see. It's hard, but I have to let him do what he wants to do...right? Please take care, give my best to Dakota, and I hope to talk to you soon!

Reading your blog about D sounds like Dan. Dan went in Oct 6 and finally got sent down to FL in Dec for one day then got leave to come home for christmas for a few days. Then back to FL he is in SAR and having a problem with his sinus and that particular pool so we are keeping our fingers crossed. Tallked to Mike today he can't get in to see the Dr again until sept so I'm getting a nurologlist here to request his medical records and if I can get him home he will see him ASAP. But I will have to drive since he shouldn't be flying. So he is asking for a leave to get this done.
Both Dan & Mike went to school in Bloomfield Mike switched to Greece the last few months of his senior year where his dad moved to. I have a doggie daycare, training and pet grooming business in Victor. So i have a lot of clients from Honeoye Falls and I grew up in fishers. So we may even know some of the same people. It is truly a very small world.

Hi Tammy,
I'm over in Bristol. I now have two sons in the Navy. Dan is down in Pensacola now, Mike still in great lakes medical hold. I love your page. Wish I new how to do neat things like that on a computer. I'm lucky I know how to find this N4M site LOL. Let alone send messages on it. Sounds like I need to add Happy Belated B'day.

Hi!! I hope all is well with your family..I think of you often. Bran is now in Mississippi. He is on hold for school, until...who knows. You can relate...! His 19th birthday was on the 23rd..how hard that was to not have him home for that!! But, on the upside, I talk to him every day now and he's texting me as I write this!! I'll keep you posted...take care!!

Hi Tammy, Whats the latest on Dakota..is he still trying to enjoy his "free" time or is he classed up? Kirsten is really frustrated but she got classed up for ATT which is 4 weeks. She wanted to do the class at her own pase but all aircrew were requird to take instructor based so they will have 4 weeks..than another hold and her final A school is AE which I understand is 4 mos. She expects to be in Pensecola until Dec, then on to Jacksonville. The longer the holds and delays her attitude is wavering ..not about the Navy or her job but the waiting she is so frustrated. She says she didnt go in to clean & wipe...she does it but she has more to offer than that. Keep telling her to keep a positive attitude...she said yeh its just you I gripe with... thats OK. Hope all is going OK for you...I did get more financing for school than what they first said I could get and some other help..I am getting my degree...it will be a little tight but well worth it. Hope this find you all doing well. Patricia

How are you doing? I'm so sorry to hear of the health issues for you and your husband and pray that everything is doing better!! Bran graduated last Friday and we had an amazing weekend with him. I couldn't believe what changes I saw in him and how incredibly handsome/grown-up he looked! We brought him home for a short bit on Sunday (we live only about 1 1/2 hrs away from Great Lakes) and having him home was incredible! He is back on base and will ship out on the 17th to MS for 8 weeks for A-school. He is going into Aviation Admin. and graduated as an E2. I miss him so much, and I know you can relate!! I'm hoping to talk to him before he leaves, but will be able to speak to him more often once he gets to school. This is still hard..and I'm so glad that I have my friends here to help me cope!! Thank you so much. Please tell Dakota I think of him often. We took Brandon to Gurnee Mills Mall (where I met D)..and he was so polite..using sir and ma'am..wow!! I hope that someday he touches the life of someone like D did ours!!

Hi Tammy, Kirsten did not have the swine flue. They put her on two antibiotics and she was feeling alot better by Fri morn when she started her cough. LOL it seems most of it is alergy related...hayfever stuff. I'm glad for another step being taken to get her schoolong done. I keep telling her patients is the key.

I dont think so, she was doing much better today about noon when shse called. She is hopeing to get of restriction to her room Fri 9 am. When does Dakota start classes or doesnt he know yet either? Kirsten is classing up in June for her next round she found out yesterday. Take care and blessings. May the back continue to heal and work go great! Have safe and enoyable travels! Hi Tammy, I havent been here in a long time. Thank you for the Mothers day greeting!! I got to have Kirsten here for seven days!!! Mothers day was her reason for coming when she did. Well I worked in the "potatoe field" actually the office doing the computer entry....but 56 and 90 hours a week takes aot out of me!!!!! I am glad for the work though!!!!!! I did not get the job I didnt even get the interview...he hired from inhouse since I did not have my degree...so I will go to school in the fall !!! One day at a time...this is so hard. I almost have the apartment in the bottom level done so I will have it rented this fall. That will help! Kirsten said she and Dakota are not going to Disney, they dont have money.... but they are hanging out. She is so excited to have this weekend with him. Hope you are doing well...with your back and all. Have you returned to work? I know you were planning on the last time I talked with you. Take care Patricia
