Navy For Moms

In this video, AO3 Karina Cortes gives you a glimpse into her Navy life - from the gun shop on the USS Wasp where she works, to the place she calls home when she's in Virginia Beach. Whether she's putting in hours at the gym or surfing with friends at the beach, Karina and her fellow Sailors have access to a variety of recreational facilities that they can enjoy in their free time both on and off base. You'll see that Navy life doesn't always mean you are out at sea!

This video is part of a series to acclimate you to the many different areas of the navy. We hope it helps you feel more informed about Navy life and we encourage you to share it with your Sailor so they can get a preview of what's to come!

My Dad, a retired Navy Chief, is a SURVIVOR of the sinking of the original USS WASP during WWII. Both my husband and I are retired Navy and our son is a 4th generation Sailor and a 2nd generation Navy Corpsman stationed with the Marines. He will be going on his first deployment soon and we are crossing our fingers that the new USS WASP is in his battle group. Our son loved hearing stories from his Grandpa about his duty on the original USS WASP. Thank you for your service!

My daughter Lindsay is about to get stationed on the Wasp. She's pretty excited about it.

Great video. Thanks to you, Faith89, for your decision to join our military. My son has been in the Navy now for well over a year and is really enjoying his job and his life. Good luck to you.

Love this video! Makes me confident in my decision to join the Navy. Can't wait to leave for boot camp in October and more importantly can't wait to be done with boot camp so I can enjoy Navy life!
