Navy For Moms

Well it has been a long time since I have blogged but I am so excited I could burst. I leave in 2 days and 4 hours to head for Groton, CT to see my 2 oldest children. Chris will be graduating from Sub school on Thursday and we will be staying with my oldest daughter and son in law (who is in A School there as well) I have not seen Don since he came home for the New years holiday.
I am driving (ugh) with my 2 year old daughter and my 80 year old parents .....what an eventful trip this should be LOL. WISH ME LUCK!

I will share on the Sub page info about the graduation for any perspective sub school moms that are interested.

HAPPY 4th of JULY EVERYONE!!!!

We are going to be there this weekend, too! We are bringing things to Andrew who just arrived there on the 22nd. It is a three hour road trip for us. How far are you? Congrats on the A School graduation! Have a great trip :)

Hi Jan,
I'm bringing my parents, too.
Maybe we should sit the grandparents together.
See you Thursday!
Have you found out anything about the Sub Fest-
I still can't get that web site to work?
What are you doing for lunch afterwards?
Any suggestions for a place that is easy to get into and out
of for older folks?
Diane- Are you going to be at gradaution?

All, how wonderful for you that you will be seeing your sailors in a just a matter of days! No matter how challenging the road trip might be - just think of how great it will be at the end of that ...yellow brick road!

Diane, it is an 8 hour drive for us (boo) but airfare is out of this site and for 4 of us I'll drive. especially since I am leaving for vaca for a week on the the 19th (Aruba) and my daughter is having their wedding in September (funny half of the family doesn't know she is married yet)

Wendy,
we are going to Mystic Seaport after and will just have lunch there.

Mary,
thanks for the picture I am sure by the time I get there I will feel like Dorothy. (just flew through a tornado hehehe)

Hi All,

No, I will not be going to the grad, as Andrew is not graduating. He just got there a week ago. He is needing his stuff ... you know, his xbox 360, his cell phone, civvies, etc. He told us there was a carnival there this weekend, but he didn't say much. My husband is a civilian DOD employee and has worked at the Groton base many, many times. I even have a base decal on my car, and my husband has a military cat card.

I absolutely LOVE the Mystic Seaport Karen. It is so quaint and New Englandish, don't you agree? I think it was the first aquarium I ever went to, and it completely fascinated me as a young wife and mother. Do you have a number for the Navy Lodge? Do they give the military discount?

Jan, I don't feel bad for you for the 8 hour drive if you're going to Aruba!!!! Just kidding. Congrats on your daughter's wedding celebration. :) How long have they been married? Is she in base housing?

For those who like to gamble, and my husband does (particularly when he is on a long road trip with time to spare on the weekends), Foxwoods and Mohigan Sun are not far from the base either. Just thought I'd throw that in there even though we will not be going to the casinos this trip.

ohh I am not a gabler but Moheghan has some really great concerts etc I am not sure what they have going on but you can check the site to see what they have and I am sure that Fox woods does too but I have been to concerts at Moheghan and they are great. food is pricey there but good and if you have never seen a casino it is well worth your time to see it

Yes, they do have great concerts at Moheghan (I knew that wasn't spelled right, but couldn't figure out the problem) Sun. You can go to their web site and see who is singing there. Sara Evans, Jimmy Buffet, and many others have performed there. There is also a movie theater, many Native American shops, restaurants (the restaurants are expensive, but good) and it looks totally awesome in there, like a forest! Karen is right, it is an awesome place to visit, it's like a walk through time almost. When I go I play the slots for a little while, then I wander around and look at everything.
