Hi all again I'm Melissa stationed on the USS CARL VINSON in Newport News, VA. I like it here. If you ever have any questions or concerns hit me up...

We live in Maryland so of course I am praying that Kyle eventually is stationed in Norfolk and not on the west coast. He's been to Little Creek twice with the Sea Cadets. Last summer he did a 3 week EOD training there that was awesome (which is where the pictures I have on here of him are from).

Hi Melissa
My son Greg is with Riverine Squadron 2 based at Little Creek. He was initially with Fleecom 6 at the main Naval Station for his first 3 years. He has a house in VA Beach and loves the area.

Yes, I am planning on going to see my son in Virginia Beach in about a week or so. What is there to do?? Not much into shopping - more sight seeing and museums.
Thanks for any info you can give me.

You are in the right place. I'd go online and read up on everything. There is quite a bit of history in that area. You need to look at VA Beach, Norfolk, Newport News and Hampton. You have the Mariners Museum, the Casement Museum at Fort Monroe, the VA Marine Science Museum and Nauticus to name a few.

Hi Melissa. My Name is Dayna. My son David is stationed on the Carl Vinson also. He just moved his wife and baby girl out there to New Port News last week. I hope to get to come out sometime this summer for a visit. We were hoping he would get San Diego, as we only love 90 minutes from there, but I guess it couldn't be that easy. LOL. Who knows, maybe you even know him. Hope to hear back. take care. Dayna

Hi Melissa,
My son David is also in Newport News on the USS Carl Vinson!
It's so nice to connect with someone else that is there!
I'm sure to have lots of questions as time goes on, so thanks in advance for your wisdom!

Hi Melissa! My son is also stationed in VA. He spent over a year on the "IKE" and then changed rates from BM to IS. He's all done with schooling and his base is between VA Beach and Norfolk. I have been out there 3 times now and I have loved that area more ever time! He will be going back over to Iraq (second tour) in August I believe so I'm sure I will be out there again this summer... If anyone else is going to be out there or lives in that area send me a message and maybe we can have coffee :-)
