Navy For Moms

Well hubby got his approval to go Active. He is going to meet with the recruiter new week due to the recruiter off on leave. At this point I am happy, sad, scared and stressed at the same time. I have so many questions that I don't know where to start. Oh well I have to take it one step at a time.

Perhaps you can join your husband at the recruiter's office and be able to ask some of those questions. Active Duty with a family could really change your lifestyle or at least your address! Depending on what kind of orders he receives and where he is stationed at.

I was a Navy wife for 10 years and found it to be a great experience, new duty stations are always very welcoming to the family. There will be wife clubs there to greet you, events planned for the family, children are very happy to get to know the new kids that join their community.

Don't be scared...it's an adventure! Make your list of questions while you are waiting for the appointment and keep an open mind, it really could be a great experience for your family. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes thats true i went to the office with my husband, i wrote down question and made notes on things they told us, I always made sure i asked questions. I would ask the same question more than once, just to see if i get a different answer. Ask ALOT of Questions.

I know you are torn Marie but I'm happy for you. You did it before. I know you can handle it again. Besides, this time you don't have to go it alone. You have all of us! Let us know how things go with the recruiter.

Thanks all for the support. The recruiter we have is out on medical leave and will be back on wednesday. So that is the day my hubby is going to call and see what we do next. I do want to let you all know since some are asking. It took 3 wks for his approval. They tell you it could take weeks to months to get an approval. I guess you could say we were lucky to get a quick response. I tend to wonder if it is that Corpsman are a critical rating in the Navy.. (hubby always tell me this). So I will keep everyone posted on the steps we go threw from this transition in case anyone here goes threw it.

Take care!

Corpsman is a critical rate but there are needs in almost every rating. We will be anxious to hear from you once you see what your options are Marie.

SO I know it has been awhile and I have an update. We can't go Active. The reason the Navy is giving us is that they haven't gotten there money worth out of my husband and that they need reserves. I was unhappy with this and not sure what we are going to do next. The process seemed so easy to do that i knew there was going to be a brick wall that we were going to hit. Well hopefully he can volunteer for deployment and then maybe they will let him go active.
