Navy For Moms

Hi all....Well after a long year and extra day at meps my son arrived lastnight inGL. Wow never knew how emotional this was going to be. Does anyone else have a child starting this week? I have been on this site constantly. It is very helpful and has brought alot of tears to my eyes! Would love to hear others stories!

Hello, Betsy ~

My nephew left today. He should arrive tomorrow at GL. I am new here, can you tell me what meps is? I have been reading a lot on this site and it has been very helpful. I can't imagine what my sister and mother are going through, it is so hard to say goodbye, and I am just an aunt!!!

Hi Sande, We had to take our son Easter day to the recruiters then he drove him to a hotel close to Fort Dix. The next morning he was awoken early to go to meps. From what he has told me it is your premedical screening, paperwork, swearing in etc. Unfotunately for my son he was running late in the group and had 3 minutes to give an urine sample and had "stage fright!" Boy would he be mad at me for saying that online! Anyhow he was sent back to the hotel for another good dinner and video games with the guys. He finally flew out of Phili around 5pm and I received my brief 2am phone call. Yes it really is hard to say goodbye, what an empty feeling but so much pride!

I took my son to Raleigh, North Carolina on Easter. My other four sons and his wife went with me. He called me from the airport in DC when he had a layover. He called his wife about 3:30 am to say he was there. He is a nuk and has already met someone that is in the same program when he was being processed in Raleigh. I wonder if you or anyone knows how to go about getting an address for him?
