Navy For Moms

Hi! I'm looking for anyone with a son or daughter in DIV 317, ship 11. We just got the form letter with Josh's address yesterday. Just wondering if anyone else did. Josh got to add a little note and said that he's doing fine but the days go by so slow.

Hi Rita - My name is Linda Switzer and my daughter, Rebecca Wood is in Division 317, Ship 11 also. I just got the word from Bonnie that PIR (pass-in-review) - graduation is set for August 29th bearing that all goes well. Although, this is only the beginning of her 3rd week, it feels like she has been gone forever. Hopefully, our girls are adjusting well and doing fine. All correspondence to this date has been positive. Best Wishes, Prayers and Thoughts to you and yours - Linda

Hey Rita - Glad you got a letter from Joanna - it's like Christmas in July hearing from them. My daughter, also graduated from high school in June and left for boot camp just 1 month later. Rebecca mentioned new friends and one of them was Butcher (apparently they go by last names) and hoping it's your daughter.
These girls are tough and are going to be fine. I know you miss Joanna as I miss Becca and just reading her letter assures me she is OK. Countdown to August 29th is on! Thoughts and Prayers to you and yours - Linda

Hi Shirley! Have you heard from Matt this week? We haven't heard from Josh this week. We got a letter last week and he said he was doing fine.

Wow, Southern CA! That is going to be a long trip! We're from Indiana so Great Lakes is practically in our back yard. lol

Hi Bonnie! We got a letter today! It feels like Christmas morning! I hope you get one also. Its so funny how a letter from your child can make such a difference in your week! Its what I live for. Oh by the way Matt is our only child. The seperation has been really hard. His letter was very upbeat and he seemed excited by the challenges. He has not lost his scense of humor,so that must be a good sign! LOL

We got a letter yesterday too! I'm upset though - Josh said in his letter that he hasn't gotten any mail from us. Doggone it, I've written to this kid at least every other day so my question is, where's it at????? My DH, who was in the Army for 13 years, said that it may be that it just hasn't caught up to him yet. He says that since the military has it's own postal system, it takes longer. I don't like that answer! I just think, poor kid, he's going to get BOMBARDED with mail when he finally gets it! lol

Josh still has his sense of humor too so I'm a little less worried about him.

Hey Bonnie - linda here and I'm like a kid in a candy store as we got a letter from Rebecca today. She "sounds" so.......good! She says she is eating well and making lots of friends. She said their days start early and they stay busy marching, walking, running and more marching, walking, running not necessarily in that order. She passed her swim test, is going to church on Sundays and even made a couple of funnies in her letter so her sense of humor has not left her. I know by her letter that she has received at least one of many I have sent. Keep in touch. Hope Josh is well. Thoughts and Prayers to all - Linda

Have you received a call yet? We haven't and I am absolutly going nuts. He mentioned in his letter that he gets phone privledges, but didn't know when.

Josh sounds good too. I just get such short letters, but I guess he's writing to his girl too so maybe it's just a time thing.

Hey Shirley - another mom here in the same ship and division except its my baby girl, Rebecca. We got a letter from her today and she seems fine staying busy and making friends. We are in North Carolina and so a long trip for us too. We'll be driving so it'll be a 2 day trip up for us. I can't wait to see them all! I am so proud as I know you are also.
As I just told Rita, countdown to August 29th is on! Good luck to Matt.

Hi Bonnie,
I know how it is! My son is in DIV 316 Ship 11. He left on July 7th from Memphis, TN. I have posted in several areas for any one to reply in the same DIV/SHIP with no replys. Yours is the closest I have seen. When did he leave? Where did he depart from. Hang in there!

Hi Susan! Josh left on July 7 also, from Indianapolis. It's so hard to believe they've been gone for 3 weeks now! The missing them part doesn't get a whole easier does it?

We've had two little letters from Josh. I'm talking one page each. And in his last letter he said he hadn't received any letters from us, which JUST drives me crazy! I know the military mail can be slow, but geesh! I've written at least every other day to him. I hope he's received them by now.

What is your son's name? What's he doing after Great Lakes? If all goes well, Josh will be going to submarine school.
