Navy For Moms

I really need some help. My son will be graduation on August 8th from Navy bootcamp. He did not add our names to the list for graduation because he didn't think we could afford to go. He did put his fathers name on the list. I told him I wouldn't miss it so he said he would add our names. How can I find out if I am on the list for graduation. I hear that you have to show ID. What happens if your name is not on the list? Also they only get one car pass to get on base. I can't believe we are the only parents that are divorced. So many questions. I don't know where to go for answers. I feel like I am floundering.

Don't panic. Our daughter did not put two grandparents on the list. (because she could only put down 4) We took a shuttle in to the base area and did not have our pass. You will however not be able to get into the base without the pass in your personal car, so take the taxi, or shuttle if you can. Show your Identification at the guard house right there in front and tell them who your son is, by saying "Senior Recruit __________. Explain your situation and they will have you wait until your name gets cleared. This could take a little while. If you can, my suggestion would be to go in with your ex if possible. They don't turn anyone away. I hope this helps. We brought 6 and all of us got in.

Joan, we were just there this past weekend and you have nothing to worry about. Just do not take your car in. Try to take a shuttle if you can. If not you will have to have your car searched and all of your belongings. It can take a couple of hours. If you take a cab or shuttle you will only have to show your ID and get your hand stamped. It is so great and easy. Do not panic. They sure make us crazy don't they. It is so fun, just relax and get there early as the stands do fill up quickly. We got there at 8:00 and it was hard to find any where to sit. We finally did but I would be ready to have to search. Have fun and if you have any concerns or questions please feel free to write here, everyone is so great. Debbie

I am so excited to learn that more than 4 people would be allowed to go to my sons "boot camp" graduation!! It was going to be my husband & I and then my ex and his wife. My oldest son was crushed thinking that he wasn't going to be able to see his brother graduate from 'boot camp'. I can't wait to tell him that he will be able to go after all!! Thanks so much for the info!!

Im glad he will be able to go. I have 4 other kids and I could not swing it financially. The hotel prices are not bad but the flights are expensive. Also if we brought the other kids they would want to do all sorts of things and I have a feeling that my son wants to veg out a little

Just past the gates to the base is the Metra train station. It is about a block away, but you can park your car here, and walk to the base and go in through the gates. You will have to show ID, just tell them you are there for PIR. They won't ask your sailors name at the gates, just make sure you are who your ID says. The walk isn't that far at all.

Thank you Iwas wondering about where to park. I am staying at the Navy Lodge so I could be close and walk in but I dont know how close it is.
