Navy For Moms

Has another Navy mom done or said something so special that you want everyone to know just how wonderful she is? I thought we should have a place to acknowledge them. So I will start.

Thank God for Christina (Brandon’s Mom). I joined N4Ms on April 26. My son had just arrived in Texas, didn’t know anyone, his sponsor was on his honeymoon , and when he called my son sounded so lost and alone. More than anything, he wanted to go purchase a car so he didn’t feel so trapped but had no way to get to a dealership. I received a warm welcome from many moms and then Brandon’s Mom sent me several messages. She said she lived near my son’s base and offered not only to go pick him up and take him to look for a car but she also offered to take him to her house for a home cooked meal. As it turned out, he never had to take her up on her offer but I’ll never forget how relieved I felt just knowing there was another mom willing to sacrifice her time to help my son. Thank you Christina, you are the best!

Oh my gosh... I don't know what to say! Thank you so much for this beautiful post. I don't think I did anything that any other mom on here would not have done. I so wish I had gotten the chance to meet up with him and still look forward to one day getting together with him. ( He has to want a home cooked meal sometime! )
I sit here at such a loss for words right now... I dont think I have had a good cry since I last had to say goodbye to my son. Again thank you so much for these kind words.
I have so many N4M's that I am thankful for, but I am just going to touch on 2.
My "Tammys"...
Tammy T- I was having such a hard time waiting for my first letter durning boot camp, and Tammy T would call me each morning as she went to her mailbox... she would open her letter and read it right there for the first time with me on the phone with her. Even when she recieved her phone call after Battle Stations I was on the computer with her watching on web cam. She listened as I cried and laughed with me. I swear god sent her to me in the hardest time of my life.
Tammy S- Our bond became so strong at PIR... our nights (and days) have been spent together since. I dont think we have gone more than 1 day without talking to each other. I always know no matter what time it is I can pick up the phone and there she will be. She sends cookies to my son just as if he was hers, and turns my tears to a smile and the drop of a dime.

To my Tammys: Thank you for everything you have done for me... you are both my sisters and I love you without end!
Christina

Christina, I was just thinking I should have had you go to my son's wedding since I couldn't be there. You could have been my "proxy mom". :) I still remind him I have a mom nearby if he ever needs anything. Thank you for being there. How wonderful that you have the Tammys. They sound like great friends!

That was a very nice thing.
That is the one thing I like about this sight mothers willing to help other mother in any way we can.
This sight is a blessing.
I know when I feel down or need a hug in a verb way it comes back from you mom's.
Keep praying for each other.

I have two as well. The two Brandon moms. For awhile I thought they were the same person, and boy was I confused when I found out they were two different people! I couldn't remember what I had said to which one, and what each one of them had said to me. ;)

Debbie (Brandon's Step-Mom) started messaging me as soon as I joined. She asked me all about my son, and she shared Brandon's experience. She gave me encouragement. She emailed me daily on my private email, we even talked on the phone. I was awed when she offered to write to Andrew, just because she wanted to encourage him. She wrote to him often, as another mom offering another view of someone who's child had gone through it. It was tremendously uplifting and reassuring. I felt like I had my own little Navy Mom all to myself. Sort of like a mom sponsor to break me of my mom addiction.

Christina (Brandon's Mom) - I didn't know Christina's name for a long time, which I think led to part of the confusion. Christina added so much experience and advice here on the site. Her videos filled me with pride at a time when I still wasn't sure this was the best thing for my boy. Well, deep down I knew it was, but in my mind I didn't want it to be because I wanted him to come back home. Anyway, the first video, the one that was set to "My Wish" and I think it was titled "Our Sailors" was awe-inspiring. It made me cry and filled me with pride every time I watched it. I sent it to family members, they sent it to family members, I sent it to Drew's favorite teachers, etc. What makes this video even more special, is that I was so busy at school that I didn't get to send the picture. But Christina took the time to go on my page and take a picture, which made me feel that she really cared and also a real part of the Navy for moms family. The second video, funny pictures, was icing on the cake. Oh how I miss those videos. :(

Now ... I've mentioned these two. These are from my very beginning. Way back in April. But there are others. Karen G., my border buddy, who has helped me so much, Shell (All I can think of is a person with a blue streak in her hair speaking with little old Native American ladies and running from border partol), Darcie, who sent my pics from California, Lois who supported me and talked me down (you know when), Freida (you are one spiritually strong, inspirational lady). Pam, another border buddy, Nick's mom, who always has good advice, Jon, a true Maniac, and his Princess. Oh God, I'm freaking out now because there are so many, and I don't want to miss any. Sheila, Millye, Navy Dad & Mari, Lisa B (mom of Jasmine). Sorry, I'll stop now. But there are so many, MANY MORE!!! To those I've missed, I apologize. You all mean the world to me.

To me all the Moms on here are very special..When my son failed his last run by 8 seconds due to having pneumonia..(he passed 2 days later) my email filled up with letters from Moms on this site saying a prayer for Codi.I believe with all my heart the prayers are what got him through. So thank you each and every one..You are very special people.

We know the prayers work girl! They worked for my son, too. There are so many prayers on this site, it defies all logic. We are truly a family praying together. Sometimes, though, it's hard to remember that God doesn't always answer the way we want him to. I'm always sad when I see someone not finish on time, but it's not the end of their journey. More than one mom, and my dad, told me, "God must have more for them to learn and share with others before moving on." You go God!

AWWWW Thank you for the kind words. I wanted to make sure that she had that button to let her son know that she was a PROUD NAVY MOM! Thanks again for the kind words.

Thank God for all the Navy Mom's that flooded my sons email with birthday wishes. He has been in Japan for a long time and it meant a lot to him. So much so that if I ask a Navy question he answers right away - and when he leaves his base soon- wants to pass his car onto another sailor of a Navy Mom. So thanks to all of you who sent those wishes out to him. We are blessed to have each other. : ) Kathy

I thank God for my great friend, Angela, whom I met through this site. When my son, Adam, went to MEPS, we didn't go because his recruiter told us he didn't know what time the swearing-in would be. We live about 2 hours away from where he had to go. When I joined this site and was looking at pictures that were posted, I saw in one of her pics my son's head in the corner of the pic. I sent a comment to her about it and told her how we weren't able to go. She sent several pictures to me that he was in and we became friends, were able to meet at PIR and still are very good friends. PIR was on June 13. Angela has been there for me, not only through the bc experience, but in many other matters not partaining to the Navy. She is a wonderful Christian and friend!
