Navy For Moms

My son has been at GL (boot camp) since July 16th. I am watching his bank account while he's gone and paying his bills. When can I expect to see the first pay check from the navy deposited into his account? If I don't see it go in... is there a place I can contact to inquire? Or does he get notified in boot camp in there is an issue with getting his pay into his bank account? Thanks for any and all words of wisdom!

I believe the first check can take anywhere from 4-6wks. As far as checking you can go to mypay.dfas.mil is where I go to check on my husbands checks when he gets paid. I am sure there is a number there to call if you don't see his first check within 4-6wks.

Hi, My son left for GL on July 1, 2008 and was paid for the first time on July 30, 2008. Hope this info helps!

They are paid on the 15th and 30th of each month. Depending on when their P-days finish and paperwork goes thru. For my son the first check took about 4 weeks.

Hi, My son left for BC on June 11, and he goes through PIR on August 8. He had a direct deposit for a little under $300 on June 30 - they deducted for uniforms, and other items. Then he had another direct deposit for a little over $400 on July 15th. I don't know what was deposited on July 30th, but I expect by now he should be getting regular paychecks (without deductions)

Thanks Kimberly for the additional info. I had heard they would deduct uniforms and such from his pay. Thanks again!

They get paid the 1st and the 15th of the month. My son went in on May 20th but didn't get a paycheck until the 15th of June. It was pro-rated for the last 10 days of May and first 15 of June so it was a little larger than normal. They didn't take his uniforms etc out until the July 1st paycheck, so that was pretty small. Since then it's been normal.
