Any one with a son or daughter leaving on June 30th?

This letter sounded a little better, it was written on the 3rd, and he said they are on 4-1 Hold. Does this mean Week 4, Day 1. What does the "hold" part mean? Jeff said he had been sick most of the week before a missed a few days. There was something going around and he had a fever of 102 for 2 days, he said he was SIQ (sick in quarters?) for two days. He also said that he missed some of the seamanship training and therefore did not do well with that, but he tried to be positive saying at least he knows how to do it for Battlestations. His bunkmate is now Chapman...anyone with that last name? I thought I had seen it before but now I cannot remember who it belongs to. Anyone else sick last week?; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by Jacqueline Manning on August 8, 2008 at 7:43am: We recieved ours Div 310, and we know Battle Stations are the 22nd for Div 310.In my sons letter he was on week 5 starting Sunday. So they will do Battle Stations at end of week 7. So I assume that they would be near the front since they are the 1st Div in numeric order.; ▶ Reply to This

I just received an unexpected letter from my son today. It was unexpected due to the fact that I received 2 letters from him yesterday, but never have gotten one on a Friday before.
The content of this letter was VERY upsetting both to me and it seems to him as well. Not sure how much detail I should go into as I don't want to cause any trouble for his division. He says they (meaning DIV 313 Ship 14 I assume) are in big trouble right now. They are being horribly punished and the section leaders are being punished even worse for a handful of recruits who can't follow rules. He states "We're being forced to write this letter while they get beat. This is so horrible and they are suffering so badly. We can barely sit here and watch this happening." He also says he is sick but will have to sit there until he collapses, then he will be able to go to sickbay.

He continues on like this for two whole pages about the nightmare that is occurring and how he feels so bad for their division staff. His normal letters were never that long!

What the heck is going on? His letters we received yesterday were so great and how well things were going.

Shelly, Lisa, Monica, Pam....did any of you get letters like this?

Permalink Reply by Monica Jackson on August 8, 2008 at 10:36pm: Blair, that is absolutely TERRIBLE NEWS! Poor Eric, Kenny, Curtis, Jeff, Jesse and all of those in DIV 313 Ship 14. This is not good. I ran out, checked the mail and there was nothing. I will check again tomorrow. It makes me wonder why we have all pretty much received glowing letters about great things are then this. I wonder if the RDC's thought they needed to put the lean on them because bootcamp is not suppose to be all good. I dont know, Im only guessing. Kenny said DIV 313 had no trouble makers, no slackers and that they all stick together no this! Yikes, I am glad you told me and the only thing that gives me peace right now is thinking that today being Fri, perhaps all of that is behind them and they are doing much better. PLEASE lets all stick together. Hang in there Blair. Let me know if you hear anything! We are all in this together. Monica; ▶ Reply to This
