Navy For Moms

I received my first piece of mail today. It was general information but the my boy got to write a comment at the end of the page. I was so surprised to not find "this place sucks". I assuming that is a good thing. I guess it is okay there because he would be the first to write that.

Has anyone received their letter yet?

Hey Joy - Hixon is my son! :-) He mentioned his bunkmate too - but we got cut off before I could ask him more.

Kelly, your son was either our son's bunkmate or right across from him. I forget what Jonathan said!!! Jonathan is heading for Pensacola. What about your son???

Yeah, he is going to Pensacola. He called yesterday afternoon. He said he went through some training. The group had been away since 6 am the day before. He said they were all going to ge able to go to sleep at 8 pm. He said that they were not allowed to go to sleep because if they were caught with their eyes closed for longer than three seconds they would fail.

He sounded good but very tired. I cant wait. Matt said that at graduation to look for group 305. 305 will have two groups the front group and the rear group. Matt will be in the second group, in the middle in the third line. Maybe your boy will be close by.

Have you heard from your son? Three more days. Yahooooooooo. Matt is leaving the day of graduation. We will only have him for about three hours but we can be with them at the airport. He said we cant take him to the airport be we could follow the bus there and be with him until his flight leaves.

Hope to meet you there! No that anyone is going to know who the other is. lol.

Marian

I heard from my SAILOR too, Yay!!!! I have not been able to connect to the internet to find anything this week. I am so glad Battle stations is over. Andrew said it was boring, but I know he'd been dreading it with the no sleep thing.

Andrew says they still are bad at marching and when we see them on Friday it will be obvious. Well, at least they will stand out.

Anyway, can't wait to see all the sailors and meet some of you guys at PIR.

I may not have the opportunity to get on the net again so congrats all 8/22 graduates and everyone have a safe trip to Great Lakes.

Who else's sailor left them around 11:15 after PIR to go back to the barracks to catch the bus for Midway??? Any one else's son at Pensacola for CTT??? I'm anxious to hear from others (Div 305 Ship 09) about their PIR experience!

Yeah we only had about 15 minutes with him after graduation. We met him at Midway and had an early dinnter with him until his flight left. Not much time with him but it was well worth it. He is in Pensacola not for training. They have access to the internet because I saw him on Myspace about an hour ago. He said it was raining.

Hope you hear from your son!

We were lucky as we were able to spend more time with Andrew. We were confused about the Liberty info given at the ceremony--they had to be back at 9pm every night...but it turned out Andrew was granted liberty all weekend. We had to leave Sat however because of committments and Andrew was very disappointed about that--so were we! I really wanted to stay until Sunday. I told him to remember some of his shipmates would hardly have any time with their families and that we were very lucky to spend more time. It was nice for him to be able to sleep in at the comfortable hotel. We had dinner up by gurnsey mall Fri. night. He bought a cell phone and a game system and that made him feel better. We also toured his campus and stopped at the beach where he asked a lot of questions when we passed by some of the more seasoned sailors. Everybody was so nice. He started to feel less homesick when they told him all the things he could do Sat Night and Sunday. It was so hard to say goodbye. On the drive back he called us and said he changed, went to the beach again to hang out and was on his way to the library to find some books to read. Today, I miss him but am so excited for him about his upcoming adventures in "A" School.

Marian, if you were in the balcony I think we may have been sitting behind you? Joy, it was great to meet you and your husband, I hope you had a good drive back.

I can't wait to get the DVD. I hope they don't cut out the part about the missing sailors....I think that added an extra FLAIR to the ceremony, lol.

Yes we sat in the balcony. It was so nice. I'm sorry we didnt get to meet. We only had about 15 minutes with Matthew before he had to report. We did get to spend some time with him at Midway before he departed. He looked so good. He felt more solid as if he is eating much better. He ate alot of junk food at home. Matt is having trouble with his banking right now. His direct deposit has not been entered into his account. I tried to fix that for him but since his is 18 now they wont give me any info. He said some finance people were going to speak to him to day. I hope he gets things in order. He does love the Navy. He was talking to his dad about making it a career. That broke my heart but I rather him do that than be at home doing nothing.

I didnt get to order the DVD. do you know how I can order one now?

Marian, I belive Andrew ordered the DVD when he ordered his photos. I bet if you call public affairs number they can tell you how to order. I think the # is in the official letter we got the first two weeks. I would insert a link to the Training Command website which may have the info but it is having problems.
