Were there a lot of folks in jeans? I was contemplating that but wasn't sure.

My fiance said that they dont want people in jeans no more because it is a formal thing and jeans aren't formal.. that just what he told me not to wear... So I am wearing black plants and a nice sweater and a black jacket... And his dad also said dont wear jeans.. because he is in the navy as well and he said jean make u look unprofessional.. so that all i know is what people have told me..... If i am wrong someone tell me please....

I agree with your fiance, jeans are casual and these young men have worked so hard and will be dressed formally, I think out of respect we should dress our best.

I agree too. I figure that it is the least I can do to honor my son since he has done all the hard work to get this far.

When we attended Michael's graduation, most of the people were in dressy casual--dress pants, nice blouses, sweaters, jackets. There were only a few dresses or suits. Definately need to wear comfortable walking shoes though because you will have a long walk from the parking area to the Drill Hall and back. Definately remember to talk the camera and order the DVD and yearbook. They will be great reminders of the day.

The sailors put on their service dress blues or service dress whites, with seams perfectly creased and shoes so shiny you can see your refection. My vote is NO to jeans and YES to nicely dressed.

Thanks Patty!!! I agree with you! I bought a navy pant suit, red shoes and a white blouse just to show my son .... in my own way, I am with you!

When you get the information onPIR, look on the back of the brochure and it says appropriate casual dress. PIR is not formal.

I was just there this weekend. About 75-80% wear jeans. I did too. The brochure does say casual and appropriate dress. It defines 'appropriate' as no words or offensive graphics, etc...I looked better in my jeans than the two girls in the very short mini skirts and low cut blouses. there were folks there that wore nice suits or dresses too, so there is a wide variety of what people wear. I think you wear what you are comfortable in. Just remember you will be walking quite a bit over concrete and in some areas uneven pavement. Then climbing metal bleachers.
For us the weather was cold and drizzly, but should be much better in the upcoming weeks. Had our weather been better, I would have probably dressed up more.
