PIR 9/19 and Still no packet - plan to drive 9hr - how do I check to see if on PIR list?

Hi Lisa- Our son graduates on 9/19 also and we got our pkt about 2 wks ago. I would definitely be on the phone with his recruiter! I know there is an 800# that you can call...maybe someone out there has it. I know i had it at one time I'll look for it and get back with you

no need to worry

you can go to the graduation no matter what they allow anyone that shows up wiht an ID to go to the PIR I have never known anyone to be truned away. Stay at a hotel that has a shuttle so you can get a ride over as you will not have the parking permit but that is not a big deal as most of the hotels local there have a shuttle

Lisa, is your son in the greatlakes? I have a brochure regarding my son's grad and it has a phone number for questions. It's TRC Public affairs office. 8am to 4pm mon to fri central time. (847)688-2405

It will come, you still have two weeks. I received my packet about two weeks before. If you do not receive it, I know that he has given them your name and info. I know the feeling my son graduated 8/29/08. Congrats!!

This is in case you don't have the link to RTC. Click on the family part and you will eventually find the graduation schedule and all the info you will need. Don't worry about not getting the packet. You should be able to get in with proper ID with no problem. Be sure to take a camera, video. Don't take pictures outside, but inside the drill hall only. Take plenty of Kleenex too. It is a triple goose bump experience.

Hi, Lisa. Your son will get only 4 guaranteed tickets for graduation, because of the limited space. He will send you a brochure in the mail with the names he has submitted and directions. My son's PIR was 8/29, and it seems like we got ours in early August. It says that if the recruit is not going to graduate on time, that he will call family member or recruiter. Maybe your son's recruiter knows what is going on?

The phone number for the Public Affairs Office is 847-688-2405. They may be able to tell you what to expect. Good luck!

Lisa---Our daughter is in DIV 352 and her PIR is 9/19 and we still haven't gotten a packet. I called public affairs and the packets were mailed out the 19/Aug. She said they only get one per recruit, but you can get the grad info on the RTC link, and our daughter will have given them 4 names for her grad list. The only thing we won't have is the car pass, but she recommended taking the shuttle from where we are staying. We are staying at Residence Inn and they do provide suttle ser. starting at 7:00 a.m. $3 per person. They let you off at the gate. I know how you feel though, if you haven't gotten a packet are they going to graduate. In our last letter from Jenny, she said she has passed everything so far and that she will get to calling on 9/18. We will be driving also,so we will have our cell phones on. If I were you I'd call Public Affairs 847-688-2405 for peace of mind, they were very nice. Good luck

Hi Lisa - as others have said, you will be able to get into PIR - that won't be a problem. The only worry really if you don't get the packet is the actual parking pass. If you don't get it, I would recommend staying at a hotel that shuttles to PIR. So many hotels in the area provide this service. When my son graduated, we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot in Waukegan - which is probably about a 10-15 min drive. Very nice hotel, and they had shuttle service. There is other information contained in the packet such as hotels, things to do, etc., but nothing of dire importance that you will have to receive. But you will definitely be able to get into graduation.
Enjoy and don't stress out about it. It's a very proud and joyous time so make the best of it!
