Navy For Moms

Does anyone else have a child graduating 4/18? We've bought plane tickets, reserved a car and hotel rooms. We fly out late Thursday night (11pm flight) which will land us in Chicago around 5am. Just in time to freshen up at the airport and drive to the graduation!

Emilie is Ship 9 Div. 154

That would be wonderful, Lorianne. I will need a size Large. So we will definitely have to meet up at PIR. You're amazing, thank you. Patricia

I would love shirt!! my son is in div. 150 ship 07. He'll be graduating on the 18th. I am getting so excited. I have contributed a couple of times on the NFM website and read it almost everyday. I know some of you are planning on meeting at the Full Moon Cafe. I don't think I will be there but, if there is a way for me to mail you the money for a shirt or meet you in Chicago, I will. I am staying at the Comfort Inn in Waukegan. We will be there through the weekend. Adult Medium should do it for me unless they run small. Please, let me hear from you and I will comply any way I can.
Thanks
Winston

Hi Moms -

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much. I've been feeling somewhat sorry for myself this past week, which is ridiculous, since what we really needed did happen. (Odd way of putting that, isnt it?)
After division (156) photos last week, my son passed out, after being ill for several days. He was taken to the VA hospital, where he was diagnosed and treated for double pneumonia, missing about 5 important days of training & testing. His chief came to visit him a couple of times while he was at the hospital (wow!) and was sorry to tell him the news that he was being sent to Ship 17 (the holding ship) until he could be reassigned to a new division. This means he will likely be graduating later this month or early next.
The best news is that my son is recovered and went back to RTC on Sunday. Full recovery and being allowed back to boot camp was the goal. He was very disappointed to be out of his division, he really liked it. But he understands the reasoning and has accepted what needs to be done.
He was very touched by his chief's efforts to work with his situation and esp. by the notes of encouragement that a couple of his fellow recruits sent him while he was in the hospital. We were able to call him every day he was at the hospital, so that was one nice thing about it!
As of now, it looks like he won't be graduating on 4/18. We are waiting to find out what division he'll be assigned to, so we can rearrange our plane tickets and lodging.
So..... I'm still excited for all of you, PIR is only days away now! :) I'll miss being able to meet you all and I hope you have the very best PIR weekend. I still consider myself part of your group, so will be keeping an eye on your boards and look forward to reading your stories. :)
Take care!

Oh Liz! I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope your son has rested and is back to fighting form soon. We will always consider you part of the 4/18 mom-fest!

We have quite a few NFM's in CA so maybe we can do a meeting after everyone has their PIR.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's illness but I'm sure he got the best of care and that's the most important thing here. It's a disappointment not to graduate with your division, but his health comes first and it sounds like his chief was right there to make sure it all works out. They've got a lot invested in your son, so they'll take good care of him.
We'll still be looking forward to hearing from you and your updates on him. He'll do great mom!

Andrea
