Navy For Moms

My son left Monday (9/8) for an overseas assignment and we haven't heard yet if he has arrived safe and sound. I called Great Lakes and inquired whether I could email his sponsor but was told no news is good news.

The family is anxious and worried about him. How can I confirm he arrived safely?

If you know who his sponsor is, a personal email couldn't hurt. Contacting his new command, not so great. It all depends on where "overseas" is, the time differences, if there's phone coverage available, and what his command has him doing by way of checking in. It takes a lot of hurry up and wait time.

Well, he finally got to his new command, safe and sound. Had a problem in Reno at the airport check in - the clerk insisted he needed a passport. So it got a little hairy but someone must have stepped in an clarified all he needed was his military id.
