Hey Kelly,
My son is AT also on hold in Pensacola. He has been there since his hurry up grad and go so we couldn't spend time with him in Chicago on 5/23. It is such Bologna!!!! Now we have to wait to scrape up enough to go see him there. Anyway he says he will be there at least 6 months. No word on when classes will start. How long has your son been there? Maybe we should start a Pensacola AT group. I think Pam Regnier's son is also AT in Pensacola. My son is not a communicator. If I want to know I have to call him. So I don't know much. I just sent a box of goodies to him and he did tell me he got it. Now he will probably fatten up some....junk food!

My son will PIR on 7/25. He is going to A school in Pensacola, but said he has a 2 month waiting period and will be staying in Illinois. What do they do while they are waiting? Do they take other training? Do they get to come home any during this time? Is there anyone on here who has a loved on doing air rescue? I'm wanting some info about it.

Yay! My son finally classed up this week in Pensacola after a long wait!
He is entering air candidate school first, then he's told there is a bit of a wait for 'A' School again. He's been on a 5 mile hike this week, jumped off the tower, and was in the water a lot. Lots of hard PT too, lately, but he's loving all of it! He needs to decide on a job, doesn't yet know what job he should focus on! Seems to think they ALL sound great! He is very excited to be out of HOLD!

Brad is on medical hold in Pensacola. He has stress fractures (both shins) from boot camp. If he gets the ok from the docs, he can start working out again this week. After he is released from medical hold, he'll be able to "get back in line" for Aircrew school. He's been doing some office work there with the Petty Officers and seems to like what he's doing. Tricia, how long is Aircrew school? Brad is doing the same thing your son is doing (AW), so I assume he'll have all of the same training.

My son jonathan graduated in August 08, and know he's in A school in Pennsacola, Fl. As soon as it was ok, we sent him a package with clothes and his cell phone. We speak to him at least 3 x's a week. He just came home this weekend, for the first time since he left for the navy in June ( Boot camp.) I went to pick him up @ the aiport on Thursday OMG! he's so skinny I kept trying to feed him the whole weekend. We had a party for him on Saturday on Sunday we watch football all day then the baseball game. Monday I just drove him to the and of course I cried. I miss him already. My son name is Jonathan Perez.

You are so Lucky! my son left March 18, graduated boot camp May 23 and has been in A school at Pensacola ever since. He has not gotten an opportunity to come home yet. How did that work? You must live within the required radius? We are in Kansas...long way from Florida!

Dianne:
If your son is in Phase III he can put in a chit 10 days in advance for authorization to travel outside of the 300 mile radius. Ask him about it, if he doesn't know how to go about it, maybe he can ask his petty officer.
