Navy For Moms

Hi,
My son will PIR on Sept 26, then leaves for Pensacola on the 30th. I'm wondering about the Holidays. Do they have to stay during holidays, or are they allowesd to come home? I'm trying to prepare myself if he can't come home :(

My Son Jonathan is in Penscola, Fl in school for CTT, and he said they have 2 weeks for the holiday. I told to get all of the correct information. By the way he was here ( New Jersey) for the weekend he took a flight back this morning. It's more the 300 Miles

... and he was UA for leaving his liberty area. He's risking his career.

SOAPBOX Warning!
The first two years I was married, I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, near Tokyo. My hubby was stationed down in Sasebo, south near Nagasaki. Neither of us could fly to see the other without going on leave. Since I had rented a house, and he was shipboard, he came up to see me. The ship's operational schedule was hectic, and both of us senior petty officers with a heavy workload. In total, even though we had plenty of leave on the books, we only saw each other 28 DAYS. Less than one month in two years, because we knew we had to do it by the book or risk losing what we'd worked so hard for. So I get a little touchy when sailors beak the rules, even unwittingly. I'm assuming your son didn't realize he was breaking the rules. If the rules are different for FL, it will be in writing somewhere.

Okay, off the soapbox now.

Hi, Since I first posted the question I found some things out. My husband is in the Navy, so I know how it works for the holidays in general.. but I was'nt sure if things were different for them while their in school. But it's not. For Thanksgiving they will get a "96" 4 days off, Thurs, Fri. Sat. & Sun. My son is in Pensacola for A school and we live in California... he needs to put in a special request chit to come home Thanksgiving. I'm not sure if everyone has to put in a special request chit regardless of where there traveling to or not.

Hi. If they will be traveling outside of the 300 mile radius they have to put in a special request chit. However, I'm not sure if they can travel unless they are in Phase III.

That is correct you must be in phase 3 and put in a special request with the correct info Mileage, address,Etc.

Trying to get this straight. Our son is set to arrive in Pensacola for Aircrew the end of Nov. Will he be able to get time off for Christmas? With the backups for Aircrew I know he won't have started school yet and more than likely will not have had time to get to phase 3.

My son is Phase II and is able to leave for Thanksgiving. So I know they can travel if they are Phase II, he is going to Arkansas with a friend, a 9 hour drive.... He is currently classed up in Aircrew training. Has anyone heard FOR SURE what do they get off for Christmas? Jared said if was still on hold, they got Dec 19 thru Jan 3, but since he will be thru Aricrew, and waiting for AE school, he is not sure what leave he will get - Anyone know?
