Navy For Moms

Does anyone have experience with extended stay hotels? Our housing app is being processed now, and our rent at our current apartment is due the 1st of Nov. We're having a really hard time deciding if we should pay the rent for November or if I should just move around at a few relatives house and stay in a hotel until we get a house. Currently the wait is less than a month for a house, and a friend of ours got one in only two weeks. Our landlord has someone who is ready to move in as soon as we're out, and if we move out by November 1st we automatically get our security deposit back. Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Just be sure you go and check out the rooms before you go to an extended stay hotel...we went to one once and the room was not very nice and the rest of the people that were there were pretty grungy looking...they all looked like they needed a bath and comb their hair. I am pretty sure there were drug dealings going on at night. We got out of there as soon as we could!! And the one we were in was in an other wise nice part of town.

We stayed in a moel with a kitchen for 6 months. Check out the motel and you might call the Better Business Bureau and see if they have anything on the motel.Saying in the motel with a kitchen was cheaper for us because we could cook our own meals, we had 3 children and they had plenty of room to play, make sure you take things for them to do. If you are going to stay for awhile make sure you get a motel that has two rooms with kitchen. Good luck

I am thinking that the Navy Lodge offers that for military families, some of there rooms have kitchenetts.

My family has stayed in several Extended Stays. Most have been very nice. We even cooked Thanksgiving dinner in one last year because our Grandbaby had just been born and it worked out great for us. The only negative was the hard bed. Good luck on your decisions. We know it is hard to make these decisions. God bless your family.
(We usually get Extended Stays through priceline.com .I think Ext. Stay America's are a little nicer.)

There is a Residence Inn not far from the base. I would highly suggest this, as all the rooms have kitchens, complete with stove, microwave, fridges, dishes and pots and pans. Also, they have a complimentary breakfast every morning, and an evening social (light dinner) Mon thru Fri. They also offer the Government rate.

Hi Ellen,

you should be able to stay at the Navy Lodge, if he gets orders for PCS. They have a special Rate then. We where Army and stayed always in Guest Housing when we had PCS orders. So I am pretty sure they will have that too. I would call them to find out, plus they nice and clean.
