Maybe someone can help me............I am looking for how to format an address on just a basic letter to my son in Gulfport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has given me two or three different address. I used the one that I used last time when he was in ECS - Holding after "A" school and it got sent back, now he has sent me one that is basically all jumbled up. Do I need to use FPO, AA instead of city and state, and if so, how do I find the correct numbers to go with that? I am about to pull my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any help would be appreciated. He is now on base with his battalion and is not going anywhere until next year so I need to figure this out.

If he is overseas then you have to use FPO (foreign Post Office) Country and zip. You should have something else If you want to in box maybe I can help you.

I was told that FPO was Fleet Post Office and they were located on bases, for instance, FPO, AA would be used for Gulfport

When ny son was in Gulfport, I just mailed him directly. The address was his name and the Gulfport base address. They do go pick up their mail, but it is right on base.

Address in the Military can be a pain! What is really crazy is there can be an FPO, AA address and a normal city and state address that will get the package to the same place. If there is a city and state mailing address, I would use that one. Why??? When it goes to a FPO address, it has to go to one central place first and than from there gets sent to the next stop, than will get to the battalion.

I would get ahold of him and have him e-mail you the address.

Maybe this will help...go to this link <<https://www.seabee.navy.mil/index.cfm>>; select the 4th option along the left hand side in the section called "Links". There will be a drop down box of the the various "Battalions" or NMCB (Naval Mobile Construction Battalions), select your son's battalion number and then go to that battalion's "Contact Us" section, it should have a address for your son's battalion. It may have an FPO in the zipcode section-it only means it has entered the Military Postal system. Just put your son's name on the first line of the address and follow with the battalion address. Believe you me......a few letters and/or packages from home will motivate your Seabee to make sure you have his current address. In fairness to new Seabees joining a battalion they are learning and taking in so much, they don't really have much time to ask about an address. Good luck to you and your Seabee!! Stay Strong-Staff Safe!!
