sas's..both my sons were very lucky when it came to the recruiters they got. Everything they were promised they got. What my hubby and I did was have several meetings with the recruiter in our home just to get a feel for what they were like. We had to sign for both our sons to join as they were both 17 and before we signed anything we read their contracts over with a fine tooth comb and did not sign until all are questions were answered to our satisfaction. I guess the biggest thing is don't let the recruiter intimidate you or your daughter. Your daughter is someone precious and I am sure has alot to offer the Navy so if they want her they will be patient with you and with her. I will say this both of my sons our happy with their choices they made as far as the Navy. My oldest is now out and was able to get a very good jop using the education he got with the Navy the youngest is still in A School and enjoys Navy life. Wishing you and your daughter the best of luck!!!!

Kathy...PNM thank you I"m a single Mom and I just don't want anything to go wrong I will try not to let them intimidate us. I will go through the contract with a fine comb that's a great suggestion I don't plan on her signing anything till I'm sure it's perfect!!! . We have to go talk with the recruiter on next Monday I have lot's of questions about her joining. My daughter wants to look into Medical field so I hear you have to get a high score for that and that there are so many opening's. Thank you again for everything. Sas's Mom

My daughter (she is my oldest) started talking about the Navy when she was a junior in high school. She knew she didn't want to go to college and the Navy would give her good experience in the field that she is interested in working in after the Navy (law enforcement). She is currently in boot camp and will graduate next Friday. All of her letters have been positive and that makes me feel good about her choice. She did not have a recruiter that worked on preparing her physically for boot camp but she didn't lie to us about anything either. I would say her recruiter was probably right down the middle compared to what I have read on here. My daughter had her reasons for wanting to join the Navy and for her it seems to be the right choice because she has no regrets. This site is also great for getting information and support as you go through this with your child. Good luck! Kristen

Kristen- Yea my daughter is sooo nervous about boot camp she has heard that they are in your face alot. She has not been doing anything to get ready physical I guess we knda did not think about that one.. she should start getting ready I did not know the recruiter can work with you physically I'm just nervous she want to go to medical field. I'm proud to don't take me wrong just have a lot to learn in the next few week's but it's good to hear that your daughter had positive letters so far I hope to hear the same when she goes... thank you, sas's Mom

My son had the best recruiter and never said anything bad of him, He also didn't mind bootcamp. he loves the Navy, it's only 4 yrs of their life if she shouldn't like it. My son Loves the Navy. I think it has so much to offer someone young...housing, med, food...payck that is always going to be there in today's time. And travel...see the world. I am so happy with Douglas and seeing him make new friends, I think it's a wonderful thing (the Navy) ....If you have any question's let me know...I would be glad to share what I know...leann

My younger daughter joined in August. She had a great recruiter and a good experience so far. Just make sure it doesn;t sound to good to be true. Her first recruiter experience was an Army guy and he wanted to be less than honest with the MEPS people. That's bad news in anyone's book. Then what happens is when the military finds out the truth the recruit gets busted not the recruiter. The navy has been good for Julie. She shows much more maturity and ambition since she went in. She's 20 by the way and has wasted the last 2 years not knowing what she wanted or how to get there. We are more than pleasantly surprised by the positive changes in her. My best advice would be to make sure your daughter is ready physically since that seems to make the rest a little easier. Best of luck for you and your daughter we're proud of her.
