Navy For Moms

I'm excited.

I'm going to be waiting in line to vote at 7am* (with bells on!) and then I'm going to head over to Starbucks.

So here are my thoughts:

I know as a nation and as a site, we are very divided on many issues and these two candidates. The passion I have read in the last few of months is nothing short of amazing to me. You go Moms and Dads!

And though I don’t expect the Right and the Left to be BFF (Best Friends Forever)- I want to be sensitive about tomorrow. Hopefully by then we’ll find out who won and who lost. And there will be people celebrating… and people throwing a pity party. That is to be expected. I’m going to ask all of you that no matter what happens, watch the bragging and and the “sportsmanship” okay? I think anything extreme or jerky will just divide us further, and all I can think about is: Come Nov. 5th, we will all still be here (well, maybe!) and we, as a community, will have to move forward in politics no matter who may be our new commander-in-chief.

So, happy voting everyone!
Tell us how the wait was… what channels you are going to be watching when polls close. All that good stuff.

Other Things:

http://www.canivote.org/ : What ID you need.
There is a phone number to call if there is trouble while voting: 866-YOU-VOTE
Times your polls close.

Tami, I think it is a great attitude to take. We all want what is best for our country. The one good thing after 9/11 was how we all came together and said "United We Stand".We need to unite and work together to deal with the serious problems we face. I too accept the olive branch gladly. Our country got thru worse times during the Depression, and then World War 2.That generation focused on saving OUR country. Lets all do the same now.

Absolutely Rose, my friend.

This is way OT: Rose and all: since you mentioned WWII--there'a a series on starting tonight on PBS called Medal of Honor---sounds really interesting--goes back to the Civil War.
Also I got my 2009 USO Calendar in the mail today. I cried when I looked at the "May" pic. Pic of a Mom hugging her Sailor. I should scan that and post it.

Oh , I wont miss it! Yes scan the pic and post it I would love to see it. My mom was so proud when we attended my brother's boot camp graduation back in 1969, he was a HM just like my daughter. My Mom was a refugee from war torn eastern Europe and when we came to America she said she thought she landed in heaven. She told all our neighbors, "my boy, he's in the Navy!"

Just one more thing, my parents, who became citizens as soon as the required 6 years were over, never ever missed voting , they were very proud to be Americans!

Ok, will do..maybe I should scan it and put it on my page (?) Same thing with my grandparents. I have the ship manifest when they came to Ellis Island. ....
There are STILL people out there that think it's a waste to vote....I don't agree with that. It's our right and we need to exercise it!

Thanks connie. I will look for it. My dad, a WW2 vet, left me a slew of research he was doing on Medal of Honor winners. I promised I would see that the info got used. I still am trying to figure out where the best use for it would be.

Connie, where can we get a copy of the 2009 USO calendar?

I have been donating to them for a long time--even before my son was in Navy--It was just sent to me in the mail with another donation card. I would just go to website uso.org (I think)
