My husband is currently in OS Aschool here in Great Lakes. He's only here for two months so he can't live ashore. Is it possible for me to sign him out during Phase Liberty ll? I read somewhere that he had to have another sailor with him, and I want some time with my hubby that doesn't include bringing another sailor lol. And Can I sign as a "buddy" during Phase Liberty l so that he only has to bring one guy?

He can put in a request chit asking that you be his buddy.  They usually approve them.

I was able to sign mine out at Phase 1 with no problems.

not during phase 1.  phase 2 they should be able to put in a chit to have you as a buddy. but in all phases unless they're live ashore they need to have two lib buddies.  it really sucks, but live ashore happens before you know it. i hated having to have his friends with us but it was better than nothing at all.

where can he put in a chit request? He is having me find out everything because he just started school. He thinks I need to go fill out paperwork.. Unfortunately he wont be getting the live ashore package, we will only be here for two months.

He just asks at his ship for a chit, and he should ask about the standard way to fill it out.  He should ask his LPO (or SDC).   You can't fill it out, this is on him.

HE needs to learn NOW that HE needs to ask questions or HE will not get anything approved!

HE should go up to the front desk and ask the Yoeman that sits there and ask them what HE needs to do so that you can sign him out as a liberty buddy.

Yes, he needs to submit a chit for family.  The ship needs to know ahead of time.  A week or two should do.

make sure they do it 10 days before the date because that is the cut off. at least it is on my husband's ship, those things vary from ship to ship :)

Hi All!

My bf's PIR is 5/25. I want to visit for a few days around 6/19. Is it possible that he will have phased up by then? I know nothing about phasing up, how long it takes, what they can do/not do during each phase. Any info that you can share would be wonderful!!!! The only thing that I know for sure if that he won't have overnight liberty that soon. Thanks!

My husband's PIR is June 22 and in the packet I got it says he will have "daytime" liberty, but his recruiter told him he would check in to his barracks at GL after graduation and not have to come back until Sunday.  Would he get a special liberty since he's married?  It's gonna be really crappy if we have to play Cinderella every night...just sayin'. ;)

KXkel 15, he will have "daytime" liberty, he will have to be back on base every night, he will be told what time he will have to be back by, and he can not be late!

DO NOT belive everything the recruiter says..it has been YEARS sence they where in bootcamp and odds are they don't take the time to call the school to ask the libery policy (which changes all the time).

If they are staying in Great Lakes for "A" School after bootcamp, they do NOT get overnight liberty.  They MUST be back ever night and will be allowed liberty in the am.   They can NOT stay out overnight...if they don't get back to base on time (in the barracks) they normally loose liberty the next day.

No speical expections are made for anyone.  He is a Sailor now and everyone is treated the same.  He has to earn the privilage (yes it is a privilage, not a right) to have overnight liberty, which takes weeks if not months
