Profile

About me:
I am a 50 something mom, whose first child will leave for BC on April 8th, 2008. My husband and I have our own financial services business. I have been an elementary teacher, a union organizer, a village trustee, and a stockbroker.
My child's first name:
Brian
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted, In college
I was the proudest of my child when:
he has made a new 'first'--whether it was his first smile, his first step, or his first grown-up decision. He carries with him my hopes and dreams and fears for him.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
This is something that my son is drawn to. I have always supported my children, but I was a little bit behind him on this one. He was patient with me, and let me do my research and find my own peace with his choice.

Countdown

Brian leaves for GL on Monday, so this is his last weekend home. Since we only live a couple of hours from Milwaukee, we will take him to MEPS ourselves, and have dinner there with him before we leave him for the night. I'm really excited for him, and curious to see who he will become. He has signed on for aviation training, but has some hopes of getting into the nuke program instead.
