Hi Tammie...yes, my husband's job brought us to Lincoln. I grew up in eastern Nebraska, so the move has been fairly painless.

Drew is our youngest also. We had an empty nest for about 3 weeks, and then our daughter moved back home after 4 years. Our empty nest was more like an extended childless vacation.

Drew will definitely be home for Christmas, and maybe for TG also. He said that he may get leave because the school will be closed for the holiday. I sure hope so:-)

What is Wyatt doing? Is he still in GL? I recall Drew mentioning something about another young man from Minden who left for BC just before he did. He must have been referring to Wyatt. Those boys make me so darn proud! It is so amazing to me that they were able to confidently able to make such an enormous commitment as such a young age. We must have done something right in raising them:-) It was great to touch base with you. Keep in touch!

So nice to hear from you Trish. That's a bummer that you no longer live in Kearney. Wyatt left for BC on June 10th. Morgan Ryan graduted with Wyatt and signed up for the Navy under Wyatt. They both in the same ship at GL. Drew is a long way from home huh! Will he be home for christmas? Wyatt says he will be home for about 2 weeks at christmas. I cant wait to have him home. I am finally getting adjusted to not having any kids in the house (if that is possible) it was really hard during BC but now that we can talk on the phone every day that helps a lot. Your jobs must have taken you to Lincoln? It would be great to meet you on the 18th. Hope it works out for you to come. Make sure you RSVP to Angie. Sounds like your son will have an intense job once he has completed school. I wish him all the best. Gotta get back to Laundry so better get off here for now. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Trish, Thats cool I was able to pick him out without having met him in person! Yes, they are handsome!
For me( I know I am a bit unusual) I found it easier to depart this time because I was able to see part of the base where he is living for the next eight months. Also, I had heard that A-school takes two weeks off at Christmas(Zach said he heard that also),so he plans to fly home once he is approved. My youngest daughter did cry as as went back to the Ramada Inn.
You must have had a great view up in the balcony during PIR. That is great! Where was Drew standing during PIR? Can you see him in the pictures we posted? Oh yeah, I guess that means Drew missed his massage. Maybe that could be a Christmas gift for him.
Zach has a cell phone now so he keeps in touch often. Thursday he passed his phase II test so now he has liberty ( even overnight!).
Well I got to go . Let keep in touch. I'll pray Drew everything goes well for Drew in SC.

Hi Trish..Drew will really like it there at Goosecreek and now you will be able to have "normal" communication with him!! I bet he is really excited to get there and find out what the base is like. My son will be starting Power School this week and is ready for that to happen as he has been on T-Track and just wants to get going on the rest of the Nuke Program. Please let me know how Drew is doing and what he has to say about the base. This is such an exciting time for him!!!!!!

Trish,
I just got the division picture out . Is Drew inthe 6th row, all the way at the right end? My son is in the 2nd row, at the right end with those awful Military brown glasses on. Thank God he can wear his civilian glasses now( even during PIR).

Hi Trish, It was great to meet you and Missie at the Ramada's fireside lounge. I saw you and Missie come into the hall for PIR, but never saw you in the crowd afterward. Did you get a seat in front our Division--280? I had a great view. My son was just to the right of me enough for me to see his face when the red flag wasn't in the way. Trish, would you or Missie upload your graduation pictures? My daughter did my pictures. My son & I are the top left picture under your friends! Zach was processed after PIR into his new base down the road and around the corner (on Sheriden Rd.) We did spend about 30 minutes together right after PIR. After processing, it wasn't until 3:30p.m. we were able to connect again. Because we had to leave early the next morning(my husband had to be to work on Sunday), we spent most of our time together on his new base. We walked around , ate Pizza Hut pizza, shopped at Navy Exchange, just talked , took pictures, and said our good- byes. It was so nice for those few hours to be a family of five again. It was truly sad to home minus one again. At least now we can e-mail him and he can call. He has called twice and e-mailed once! He seems to be adjusting pretty well. He is taking his first test today(one week after PIR)! Have you heard from Drew?
