Profile Information

About me:
I live in Jackson, California. I have been a mom to 5 children. My enlisted son is the 2nd in birth order. I have 4 healthy living children and am happily married! I have 1 daughter and 3 living sons. Our family enjoys camping, fishing, hunting (not me on this one) and quading. We spent years at cheerleading competitions for my daughter and years of soccer, baseball, and football for my boys. My enlisted son Phillip has the kindest heart of any one I know and we are very proud of his decision to go into the Navy. My husband was a sonar technician on a sub many, many moons ago. So he's especially proud! I am very grateful for this site.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Phillip
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He has always made me proud. He has such compassion for others. But I have to say now that PIR is over I have not known such pride as that moment those doors went up and I saw my son, now a Sailor coming through. It truely was a moment I will charish forever. My husband and I couldn't stop shaking! This journey he has chosen to go on may not have been the first one I would have chose but I am so proud that he did choose it!
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Let him follow his own path which may not be the one I would have chose.
Be supportive and write many letters! Enjoy that 4 minute phone call from boot camp, I slept so good the night I finally heard his voice.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Susan: I'm an expeditionary mom too. My son is in VA now. He served 15 months after A school in Diego Garcia and is now stateside. He was not expeditionary when he left. So, I'm kind of new to this too. However, since he's already served an overseas tour, I'm not sure how this will shake out. Keep us posted on your son's progress and we'll continue to pray for him and all our kids who go in harms way.

Oh gosh Susan...I will be thinking about you. I know it's gonna be wonderful to see him but hard to watch him leave. I can't stand to think about seeing CJ board that plane for Bahrain. Phillip and CJ are very brave men to be doing this to serve our country.

Will you get to see him before he goes? I hope you will. I think, from what I have read on N4Ms, that the Sailors like it pretty good in Bahrain. I set up a Google gadget on my computer desktop that has the time locally and in Bahrain. They are 8 hours either ahead or behind us (haven't figured that out yet) in Alabama. I gotta figure out what would be the best way to communicate with my son. I have been looking at Skype.com but I'm not sure how they get internet service in Bahrain. CJ has an air card now that works great and I could swap it for a global one but it's kind of expensive. I know his cell phone won't work outside the U.S....we have Alltel. It's alot to think about! But I'm sure we'll figure it all out.

I am off! Thank goodness! I will be doing a little work from home, but will finally be on line for a little while after I take Katie to school! After tomorrow I will have 11 weeks left of school! But who is counting!

Bryan leaves GL today and arrives in SD this afternoon! I called him at 5:30 this morning and he was up and ready to get to the air port! A very excited young man! A very excited Mom too!

I hope all is going well! I am headed for Tuscon this weekend! I can't wait to see all the ladies! You will have to join us soon!

Hi!
Sorry for the long delay! Just trying to stay afloat! No pun intended! Work is rough with all the new changes and with school.....I just have to stay focused! I don't really feel like being there so it is hard to sit for six hours each time! Ugh!

I am glad that Phillip is continuing his education, but I am with you. Combat training scared me when Bryan was saying he was going to go IA. But in the nick of time his orders came through. I was thrilled! In fact his report date is the 24th. When does Phillip leave SD? I will have to go back and read.

I am headed up to San Fran with Joyce October 8 or 9. Are you able to make Fleet week? Let me know! I would like to see you!

I hope that everything else is good!
Take care!

I have been texting phillip for about an hour now! he let me know that he and Bryan have been talking, but Bryan beat him to it because we were together when he got the text from Phillip! Very cool! I did tell Phillip to call if he needed anything and that I would be in SD in about a month, he should come have dinner with us!

It was good chatting with him! I am glad that he is in SD and hope he and Bryan get to spend some time there once Bryan actually goes down there! This is fun! We will get together some how!!!
