Proud Navy Mom

Profile Information

About me:
I am the mom of 3 boys with the oldest now in bootcamp at GL.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Michael
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He raised his hand and took the oath before leaving for GL. He had told me since he was 5 years old he wanted to do it, and seeing him swear into active duty was a big dream come true for him. I was very happy for him!
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
I've got alot of support here! To know other moms feel as I do makes me feel comforted.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

Psalm 91 KJV
(1) He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
(2) I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in Him will I trust.
(3) Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome pestilence.
(4) He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings
shalt thou trust: His truth shall be they shield and buckler.
(5) Though shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;
nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
(6) Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;
nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
(7) A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right
hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
(8) Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and
see the reward of the wicked.
(9) Because thou has made the Lord, which is my refuge,
even the Most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep the in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands,
lest though dash thy foot against a stone.
(13) Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder:
the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because He hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver Him: I will set Him on high, because He hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer Him: I will be with Him in
trouble; I will deliver Him, and honor Him.
(16) With long life will I satisfy Him, and show Him my salvation.

BC feels like Kindergarten all over again

It's been exactly 1 week since I've seen our son but it feels like a week of forever. Someone mentioned being at PIR last week and seeing the new recruits in the NEX and it made my heart melt. I want so bad to hear someone's seen my son. Anyone. Doesn't matter. Because, when we left him at MEPS it felt the same as when we left him at Kindergarten 12 years ago. When both of my sons entered Kindergarten, I would have given anything to have someone sneak into their classrooms on that first day and… Continue

Where did you get hte count down clock. That is awesome. I would love to have that on my desktop.I have about 10 days longer than you do but it is very cool.

No, ma'am. He only got to mail because of the holidays. In his first letter, he said that he can only write on Sundays. I sure wish that he could write daily, though!

Hi Mary; I actully talked ot Jerry's recruiter today as he asked me to call him and thank him for taking him under his wing. I asked him about the TG because I was curious as well. It stands for Total Graduating and the (08) is 8 divisions.

Mary, got my letter yesterday. So excited! Sounds like he's doing great. Four have already been sent home from his div. He's getting the hang of it and sounds like he's already grown up. It's so hard to believe how proud we are of our boys - young men.

Mary, everything you said is exactly how my boy - young man - is. It is hard being a mom and the separation is tough. We can do it!!! I did not get a call yesterday. I hope one comes or at least a letter. I can't say Daniel is a writer, so who knows. Another day at work wondering and praying he's doing his best. Enjoy and have a great day.

Mary,

Just stopping by to say hello, and see how your holding up. Isn't it great that you now know your son's PIR date. It validates that boot camp isn't forever, and soon you will be able to have real communication with him on a regular basis. I was looking at my son today, and thought, he is just too young to go out into this big world without me. But I then realized, yes, he is now an adult and this is the best decision he has ever made. This is such an incredible opportunity for them. I just didn't realize how hard it would be to let my baby go. I still remember, like you, when he went to kindergarten. I cried like a baby, he ran to the bus and gave my half a wave goodbye. It seems like just yesterday. Well, I just wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and let you know you and your son remain in my prayers. God Bless.

Mary, I've enjoyed looking at your site. My son is in 062 and I too am waiting for a call. What a great looking bunch you have. It's my middle son and this is tough waiting for that call. Hope we do hear. God bless you and have a very Happy Thanksgiving. Chris
