I was the proudest of my child when:
he came home and told me he was being sworn into the united states navy.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
its so hard to "let go"
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Dear Patti, I am sure that they know each other. My daughter's husband is in Power school right now as well....she says that they are not evacuating the base, just supposed to lock themselves in their rooms...they think that the next one will be worse...congrats to your son...what an acheivement...my daughter is in ttrack , waiting ,just waiting , for her security clearance...Last year my husband and I went to Foley Beach (just outside of Charleston) for a week at the end of April.;...the water was 65 and the temp was 85...I think that is the time to go....have a great day..

Hi Patti,
we won't be taking him home (alittle too far), so we'll definitely be exploring Chicago and the other attractions nearby. I'm sure the kids are so relieved to see their family, and be "normal" again....I just hope I don't cry (he doesn't like that...). We ordered White SoX tickets for Sat 5/24 (2;30 game) -- he'll LOVE that!! Thanks for all your hints and advice!

Patti,
sorry for all the questions, but what other types of things do the sailors like to do the weekend of graduation? Go to the city? Great America? anything else nearby that's fun?? It'll be Memorial Day weekend, so I'm sure everything will be crowded, but hey, that's OK.

Wow, every weekend...that would be nice. I know the Metra train runs near GL and he could take that into the city...and then take the South Shore home.

Hi Patti,
thank you for the Graduation time-off schedule. It'll be nice spending time with our son after all these weeks. I have no idea what type of dorm or apt-type room he'll have at A school at GL....anything will be better than living with 80 guys, I guess.

Patti, how long was your son's liberty after graduation? I really like the pictures...you must be very proud!! My son is set to graduate 5/23...it seems like such a long time away!

Awesome! I'm glad to hear Kris is adjusting well. I sent John his cell phone also and he called last night. The start of his school is on hold for a least a week. He wasn't sure how long. I guess they have to do that while they wait for some more guys to PIR to fill up a class. I didn't know they got that long of a leave while in A school, that will be nice for you all.
