About me:
I am a 41 year old about to be divorced mom of a 18 year old daughter. She enlisted in the Navy to get the discipline to get through college!!!! I am excited for us both, but dreading the "empty nest" as she is my only child. I want to make friends here as I learn to live my own life again.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Seville but we call her Lainie
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
She made her graduation happen. She had some difficulty and overcame her own faults to make sure she didn't let anyone down, most importantly herself. Couldn't be prouder!!!
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
She was going to be supported in making great decisions for herself. I feel that she will be able to make her life whatever she wants it to be and she's in for a great adventure besides.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

She leaves for boot camp tommorrow!!!

You always think this day is so far off and that you'll have time to say all the things you want to say. Yet, today I couldn't think of anything except how proud I am of what you're doing for your life. It just seems like a few minutes ago I was taking you to school for the first time and we were so excited about what you would learn and do there. Although that part of the feeling is the same, this time you'll do it without coming home after school and telling me about your day, the new teacher,… Continue

Just trying to keep in contact with other moms about their daughters. My daughter missed her running test and did not graduate today (9/5). I have not heard anything else from her so I'm waiting to hear now. Any words of encouragement?

Disregard my previous comment asking where Lainie is now. I see she's an SK. My daughter's bf is an SK and assigned to the Nimitz in San Diego. There is a group for SK mom's too.

Hi Shelley, I'm really glad you didn't miss PIR:)) By the way Lainie looks adorable in her DRESS BLUES. Where is she now?

You left comments on your own wall & the mom's won't see them. Don't worry we've all done it!!!

Not sure if you want it, but here's a website where you can order the div t-shirts. http://mwrgl.cnic.navy.mil/gen_info/rtc_graduation/rtcgraduation.htm
Go in general info, and then rtc grad, and general info again and there is a order form. We will be heading there for the 12th of Sept.

Hey Maripat, I did get an address and I've gotten a couple of letters too. I also got the "grad info" letter. My daughter is div 291 ship 11 so our kids are there together. We'll be there at the same time!!! She actually "earned" a phone call this past Sunday ( 6 June) by answering a question correctly, so I got to talk to her for a couple of minutes. She said if she passes her test Wednesday she gets an hour to talk.

My daughter says that she has passed her swimming test and her PFA's (I have to look that up to see what it is) She told me she's testing me to see if I can keep up :). It is somehow comforting to know that we're going through this together. Do you know where your son is going after BC?

Shelley,
Did you get an address yet. My son is in Div 292 Ship 14. His graduation date should be 8/15.
