Mitchells Mom!

Profile Information

About me:
I am a 44 year old mother of 2. My son Mitchell just enlisted into the submarine computer tech. for the navy. I live in Maine, but moved around a lot when I was younger. My daughter is still in high school. My ex and I share custody of my daughter, but my son lives with me. Its very hard to see him go, but I'm very happy for him to be doing something constructive with his life.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Mitchell
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
when he decided to challenged himself and join the navy instead of just coasting with his life.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
The navy isn't evil. They are going to help him, and hopefully focus him.

Hi Christine
My son is in div 215 ship 14 too - his name is Tristan. I hope we meet up at graduation - it's nice to finally find someone from the same division and ship. Colleen

Are you going to PIR?
Check with the school if she can take her Finals early, I had to do that with our 3rd son( of 4) because he is going to work at a camp this summer and needed to be there over Final times... most schools will work with you! our Boys are missing each other too...We will all be going to the A-School Grad. Our oldest son lives in Upstate NY...He will be Flying into Mississippi for that Grad.

Hi Christine,
I'm from Biddeford. My son Andrew left April 23rd, and should be graduating June 20th, haven't received an official date yet. He is in division 223, ship 11. He is going into Submarine Electronic Computer Field. It sounds like they things in common! :)

Christine,
Yes, we are planning to attend PIR. I just keep writing letters...I wrote a letter today that was way too "mushy" and tore it up. I don't want Mitch to be sad and it was kind of depressing-said that I missed him too many times. I rewrote it and it was more positive the second time around. Hang in there yourself. Mitch's recruiter called to see if I had heard from him and according to him, they kind of get a break on Sundays. They aren't permitted to do much training on Sundays as it is set aside for church and worship etc.
My Dad has a house in Maine-my folks actually live in NY-I was born and raised there. Dad hunts and bought the house and property just to hunt. Where in Maine do you live? As a kid, we used to vacation on Sebago Lake-great fun but water was cold-that much I remember vividly.
Thanks for writing.
Sharon

I was good, but now I'm back in shock, her plane is leaving at 2:00pm, my whole family sat with her all morning at the MEPS, we saw her second swearing in and got to hold her in our arms. I'm going through this wave like thing now proud and amazed by her strength then lonely. You message caught me on a plunge, thank you for throwing a life preserver. I'll focus on getting some pictures up now.
