OK-- so how do we come up with the plan to discourage our sailors buying a car? We,too, believe it would end up being parked somewhere and the car insurance coverage would still need to be paid...
God, give me patience, and give it to me now!

Thanks Gaye,
Steven is enjoying feeling more "human"...his best friend from home just arrived and lives across the "street" from him...Steve is a machinist's mate and his friend is an electrician. We sent him some civvies and his "gadgets" and he was able to score a laptop at the exchange, much easier than us attempting to send him one. He is excited about classes starting. I didn't know they had additional clearances to go through. Steve went through several before he left for boot.
As I have told him several times, he will get out of this what he puts in to it. He is a smart young man, but can be lazy at times because it all comes too easy for him, so I am hoping this really challenges him.

My daughter is in Ttrack and she is having a blast...good break between A school and power school...she may even be working with your sailor..sorry can't remember what she is doing with the indocs...(the newbies!)...the only hurtle now is getting that security clearance...if it doesn't come thru for some reason, she will not be in the July Power class and I think that she would find that very disappointing...she would have to wait another couple of months...ps...my sailor is having to remember not to swear with me too...funny how easily they pick up those bad habits...have a great day

Hi Ledonna,

Yes, Steven called and says he's "tired as Hell" (I guess he has to do that whole cuss like a sailor thing, LOL). He's headed to SC on the 3rd of June, where he is attending the nuke school and studying to be a machinist's mate. It was his second choice, but he said it's a shorter program and will put him on a ship or sub sooner.

We're about ready to go, we don't get to Chicago till Thursday evening, then the drive to Waukegan and up early for the graduation. We have to leave again Saturday as duty here calls and work has been very backed up...
Currently, I'm trying to find an "authentic" Chicago pizza place, that was Steven's one request...supposedly there is a good one named Rosettis' or something in Libertyville...

Hi carol, are you ready to see Steven graduate? Did he call you lately? I got a call from Sam yesterday, he said they go to Battle stations on Wed night. What job is Steven doing after Grad, and where does he go for his schooling? Sam is staying in Great Lakes for Damage Control, He will get all the Fire Fighting training the Navy offers, so when he is out he can get a job at a local fire house. I hope to meet you at Graduation.

Hi Carol! You should also join the group "PIR Graduation 05/30/08" It is a terrific site, with lots and lots of support, and we are all getting together on the Thursday before PIR for dinner at the TGIFriday's in Gurnee. I sure hope to see you at PIR!

Hi Carol, My Son Sam is the same Div/Ship as Steven. I received my PIR packet, and theres a little info there. I booked the Navy Lodge (phone# 1800navyinn), $62.00 a night. We are coming in on the 29th so we can get to PIR early.

Where are you from? I'm in CA. What did Steven sign up for as his Navy job? Sam wants to be a firefighter when he gets out, so he is signed up for Damage Control. This will get him his Fire Cert. but he will still needs to get his paramedic's license through school. His A-school is in Great Lakes, so he will stay after PIR for 5 more weeks. He is hoping to get San Diego as his first Base. Where does Steven want to go?
