About me:
My name is Heather. I am 36 years old and my step-daughter is leaving for Navy boot camp on July 1st. I also have a 15 year old son Joseph and a 9 year old son Patrick. I am a front desk clerk at the Hilton Garden Inn. And I absolutly love my job !!
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Jessica
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
When she decided she wanted to gradute high school a year early and join the Navy.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
That my step-daughter has a good head on her shoulders....and she is going to do great things in her life.....and that I am so proud of her...
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

First Letter

Finally my first letter !!! She said she is really bored and they aren't doing much!!! Of course it was still the first week of the fun processing stuff!!!! And I know that she is now in the second week so the "fun" should be beginning!! She also told me she is the shortest girl in her division so she was picked to be in the front carrying their flag wherever they go...It was so good to hear from her...thanks agian for all your support ladies.......talk to you soon......

Spending time

It is so emotional knowing that in just a few days my step-daughter is leaving for bootcamp...it is so hard to try and get time to spend with her before she leaves....I have plenty of time..... she doesn't....I know it is hard trying to split time between two families but we hardly ever see her and now she will be leaving......I just don't know what to do....hopefully she will find some time to come see her other family....I can only pray.....

Hi Heather,
I too am no expert, but my son has also been through bootcamp and A school, both in Great Lakes, and I would be happy to try and field any questions you may have.
This is a great group to be in!

Hi Heather,
Thanks for adding me as a friend. If you have any questions I can help you with just let me know. I'm not an expert by any means, but I did survive boot camp!! Oh and by the way, so did my son :)
Seriously though, I've picked up a lot over the past 4 months and would love to be able to help you any way I can.
Sincerely,
Bobette
