About me:
I am a mother of 5 children; Aaron - 23 yrs. old, Allison - 22 yrs.; Alexa - 19 yrs.; Aarika - 17 yrs.; and Ariel 15 yrs. old. Aaron arrived in BC on May 6, 2008. He will be in NUKE school in Charleston SC. Allison graduated from UDM with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing last week. Alexa is planning on going back to college. Aarika will be graduating HS in a couple of weeks; she has her STNA and will be going to a community college this fall to pursue nursing. Ariel will be a sophmore in HS next fall. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Ron for 35 years. I have two small part time jobs; Financial Secretary for my church and a Financial Assistant for an older gentleman in a Nursing Home. We live in Ohio in a big Victorian house built in 1892. We enjoy traveling and anything to do with the water. Our spiritual growth is very important to us. We belong to Evangelical Friends Church.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Aaron
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He decided to take back his life and join the Navy.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Just let go and trust that God has the best intentions and a purpose for my son.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience

Just a note, very busy days right now. Your son may not have alot of choice about phone calls. If he doesn't have his cell, it's a long line to the phones, and they truly, truly keep them very busy, family time is not a priority to the Navy right now. They do a pretty good job of attempting to get the sailors to stay in touch with their families but at times, they are just busy.

It gets worse when they deploy, the ship lines are very long. Matt said some sailors are in that line every night and he thinks they have families with small children to touch base with, so he didn't do it very often. He called from ports of call.

It's also a hassle to call from some stations in Iraq.

but he's home in 6 weeks or so...

Hi, Carol, I wasn't ignoring you, I've just been working very long hours.

I think we can agree to not discuss religion. Being raised as a Mormon, and finding so many conflicts with that faith has made me very leery of any organized religion. I have found too many people who party on Saturday night, and then sit piously in church on Sunday condemning others for the same acts they themselves did the night before. I admire people who live their faith. I have friends, in all faiths, who can pull that off. But the only thing I find that brings me peace in a church are the joyful hymns.

I find my God around me, I trust Him everyday to help me find my way, and I pray everyday for our young people in harm's way, and that we give them the leaders they deserve, that lead and not manipulate, that have America and Americans first in their priorities as they do their jobs.

I'm sure we can find commonn ground.

Craol,
I am so so sorry about your families loss. Yes, that baby is an angel in heaven and it's soul is watching over you. I had a tragedy years ago and it does not go away, but it's gets better......We know God is Good. He wraps his arm around you all with comfort and strength.
Gos Bless you. Connie

Carol, Thank you for your comment. Your family grief sort of put this into perspective; it's paperwork. The thing I'm struggling with the most is that my son had some ups and downs and has come so far, he's worked so very hard and has done wonderfully only to have a thug pull the rug out from underneath him. I'm angry because it hurt him. I'm angry because he deserves to be rewarded, not this. Last night I kept trying to make a deal with God, I told him to take something from me, make me sick, anything just let his paperwork be found. Please, I kept asking him, please. This morning I've realized I was wrong to do that but I just want my son to be happy more than I want anything else. Thank you for your support and may God bless your little angel in heaven. Mary

Hi Carol!!!
Wow, five kids? Good job , It sounds like you and your hubby have done an awesome job with them. It's not easy these days!
My husband is no longer in the navy, but when he was, he was an EM on a fast attack submarine during the cold war. He was also a diver.
How long has your son been in the Navy? My husband spent alot of time in school prior to being sent out into the fleet. I work as a Safety and Training Coordinator at a Geothermal Power plant and most of our operators are out of the Nuke program. The Navy does an awesome job training these guys, so it is advantageous for us to pick them up when they get out. I just indoctrinated two new ones last week. Your son has picked a great career path! Encourage him to stick it out, and jobs will be easy to come by when he gets out.
Our son John is in Pensacol Fla. in "A" school. He is going to be an Aircrewman Rescue Swimmer. He just got there last week. He just loves it. I am oh so proud of him! I miss him very much, but I have chosen to trust in the Lord. Isaiah 41:10 I believe every word!
On the subject of the 3 extreme Liberals, all we can do it pray for God to soften their hearts. They believe, as we do, whole heartedly in what they are saying. All we can do is put the gospel out there, in a loving way, and trust the Lord to do his great works. I am so greatful to have other Christian woman on this site, to hold one another up during good and bad times.

Thanks for the extension of friendship. I look forward to our future conversations.

May the Lord bless you and your family today and always

Your sister in Christ,

Lisa

Carol, I grew up with many lovely women in my church, who had similar strong beliefs , as you do. I often think that when my dad got to heaven, he was surprised to see all those folks he thought would end up in hell. We or maybe I should say, I wont know the truth until the day I die.

Maybe it would be a better witness for your faith to back off of telling KWebb she is filled with hate, it is just not so. She is a passionate woman with a strong will, mind and determination to do the right thing for our country. We all have different paths to the same goal, what is best for this great nation of ours.God bless you and yours too.
