Profile Information

About me:
Divorced for 16 years, raised two sons who make me proud daily.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Brendan
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
When I saw his focus and determination to be as prepared as possible for boot camp. He did every work out possible in addition to advancing his tae kwon do belts in preparation for combat school.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Be supportive, even when you're crying. The words "I'm proud of you" mean the world to my son and the smile I get in return means the world to me.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

I got to hug Carols_Kitchen!

Carol and her husband were in my neck of the woods yesterday, and were kind enough to stop in and see me at work. I was working, looked up and knew her right away! Because the store was busy at that moment, Carol waited till there was a break in the traffic with the patience of a saint. When I finally got a chance to hug her, I didn't want to let go and almost started crying. Through her, I felt such an amazing connection to my son because our boys are together. Man, I had to break that hug or I… Continue

LOL Amanda, glad you can play tonite with me! LOL
Thanks for the nice comment on my handsome son. Yes, he does look good but I am prejudice! LOL
I need to change my pic with a new one with him in his new uniform.
Too bad about the uniforms tho. My son loves his white and black/blue dress uniform. He feels so proud in them.

As for the study time at "A" school, I sure hope he does well. He actually did very well in bc finally. He does struggle with academics but he told me last weekend after graduation that he has learned a lot on how to study in bc and was even tutoring others for their tests! He said by tutoring them, it also helped him learn the materiall.

You should come over to the chat sometime to talk constantly!

Hi--good to hear about D. I was at a late nite pampered chef meeting. We shared stories about our worse ever shows after our training. Laughed quite a bit.
Not sure when I will make it back to Indy--might be end of Oct. Lunch is on me!!!
Miss you

Hi Amanda, thanks for the welcome to the CMCR group. Is interesting that he isn't a sailor. Sigh..............I like the term sailor tho................

He is still called a recruit tho??? Why?

But we had talked about it and he said he would never be on a ship but would be on land only. He is just fine with that. We also had talked about how they mingle/work with the Marines too so it will be interesting for him.

I need to take time to learn about what he will be doing as a CMCR. I will have to also read here the rest of the Seabee Discussion too.

I may have more questions later so hope you don't mind me asking you?

It, too, will be good some day to meet each others sons. I feel closer to Andy when we get together, and one day that will be a need even bigger. Again--so goooood to see you this week!

Well, we ended up with 26 for lunch! Thank goodness for big batches in the crockpot and expected leftovers that did not happen! We were even pulling every carrot, pickle and potato chip we could find, as well as picking the last of the cherry tomatoes to put out! How I ever stretched one birthday cake out to serve that many is beyond me--must have been the extra payday bars and orange slice cake I made before, as well as the Metro East favorite Bobby's ice cream.
We missed having Andy here.

Well, I'm getting ready to make a huge batch of Italian beef--we have 4 spending the weekend, and about 12 coming in Sunday for sis-in-law's 70th birthday. It will feel good to have a house full of company!
Andy has already informed me how he wants to spend Christmas. Fingers crossed he will be home, but I know he wants to spend a lot of time with friends. How changed will they find him?
Hope all is well with you, B and his brother.
