Profile Information

About me:
I have 3, yes 3 sons in the Navy! And I am a volunteer with the Naval Sea Cadets in San Antonio. I work full time for a restaurant chain in the Accounting department. I am married to my best friend and we support each other.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Scott, Chief on an Sub; Sean, ET on a destroyer; William Div 369 Ship 9
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted, Overseas
I was the proudest of my child when:
Always proud of my boys but I was proudest of my oldest, Scott, when he made Chief!! The youngest, William, just went to Recruit Training 7 Aug 08.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Well, I see Spongee has made her rounds lol. I think she managed to tag everyone!
My group of guys...ie... my Cody, Cody Y. and Jeff K told me the same thing Will told you. They really don't see him anymore. I guess we should've expected that, however nice it would be, we know they won't stay together forever. I had my usual trio here for Thanksgiving, and it was a nice extended weekend with them. They did have to call ot a few hours short, as we got hit with our 1st snow storm of the year. Usually they don't head out on Sundays until around 5:30-6pm, but with the snow flyin' they left around 2pm. I guess it didn't hit Chicago as bad as they'd 1st predicted, too bad they weren't wrong where I live! LOL We got nailed with around 6" of that nasty white stuff..YUCK! And so begins another wonderful Wisconsin winter! Someday I'll have the means to travel south or southwest for the winters like my mother-in-law! Until then I guess I'm stuck shoveling snow...lol.
I hope Will gets everything settled for his x-mas leave! I can't believe they'll let him fall through the cracks on this though. It'll probably just take a little extra paperwork, etc. to get it straightened out. I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a few prayers for ya though!
OK, enough of a break, I need to go finish shoveling. I'll talk to you soon!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful turkey day tomorrow!!

Hi Melinda! My son is stationed in Seattle,WA. He has been in the Navy for three years. He has two more to go but, we just found he is relisting. He is on the USS Michigan. His sub is to Guam. He will be leaving sometime in January for about three months. I miss him very much. He is my only son, no other children.

Hello there! I haven't been online quite as much lately, but I do try to pop in to read the posts once a week. From what the boys tell me, they really don't see your son all that much lately. Then again, I know they're fairly busy during the week. Weekends, they all come up to the house (my son, Young and Keeney).Sounds like next weekend there may even be a 4th sailor coming here? Who knows, lol, I just take it one day at a time with these guys! LOL I do know I'll have the typical 3 here over Thanksgiving, and am looking forward to that time. The weekends are always so rushed it seems. Sounds like your son will be done at the GL base before mine is. I don't think Cody's scheduled to be done there until Feb. some time? I think he and Young finish up at about the same time too. The boys told me there was a ship on lock-down this weekend, don't think they realized it was the one Will was on, or else there's more than one on lock-down. Anyways, I'm off to check the posts then gonna spend some time with the boys. I'll talk to you soon!

Hi there Melinda... I have a cousin that's been in for a few years and is SAR, a nephew that's a Chief - currently in Japan for what I understand is education for command & a very close friend that goes in Dec 16th, hoping for SAR too. My brother is USAF, so my military knowledge isn't bad but I actually started clicking around the site to find info for the new recruit's mom and kinda got sucked in by the very welcoming community here. Hoping Chris's mom and girl will join us here.

Hi Tabbie,
I am needing some info and hoping you can help me out. I am planning a trip to San Antonio for my sons graduation on the 5th of Dec. How far is it from the airport to the base? Do you know where the closest hotel is to the base and how far is it? Do you know what I can expect at the graduation? Mony is VERY limited but I can't miss this part of my sons life. I can't afford a rental car so is there a bus or taxi that can take me to a hotel close to the base? I will stop here. Don't want to overload you with questions. But I am sure I will think of more and come back to you, if you don't mind. Thanks for any help you can give me.
