Hi Shirley!

Great to hear from you - and glad all issues are resolved. I know its been great to hear from Bryan regularly now. He finally started school yesterday, I guess you can never count on dates when it comes to the military, keep us on our toes. Hes been there almost 3 week, or I guess more huh? and just finally started. He just received his station orders for the USS GW in Japan. Im in awe and had high hopes for San Diego. 5 years seems like forever! Part of me is stll very excited for him and the experience he will get but I can be so selfish...

Any word on where Matt will be headed?

Hope all is well,

Kathy

So sorry for the delay! We have been out of state on vacation. This is terrible news about Matt's situation! I hope its resolved by the time this reaches you! UGH

Bryan arrived safely in Florida and seems to be adjusted. He says he likes it better than Illinois, but he says the humidity is worse. He hasnt started classes yet and hes not sure when now. Its weird how they get "orders" or schedules and then they are null and void for no reason...?? Who knows.. it could be he doesnt understand it enough to explain it to me either.

Yes that weekend was great - but flew by entirely too fast. All that waiting for PIR and it was over in a heartbeat!

Hope things are better,
Kathy

Shirley, when I talked to Aaron on Friday, I told him to keep an eye out for Matt as you and I had talked. He had to hang up to go to muster and the next day told me Matt was right in front of him at muster! Quite a coincidence, I'm glad they were able to meet!

Shirley, your son is in advanced electronics however it's the aviation program! It sounds like he will be spending time in Pensacola. I believe I have heard that the classes are back up in Pensacola so they are holding new sailors at GL. But they could also be putting him thru indoc and basic seamanship classes while he is there so that is not a bad thing.

If you go to the School and Education forum and in the search window enter AE, I posted the job description so you will know more about his schools and work. I believe there are some aviation mom groups here to that will help you along with any questions you might have. Just go to groups and search for Aviation or AEs - we have alot of sailors in the aviation program.

Oh Shirley, it can be confusing but as much as you are welcome in our group - it's not the right one if he has green stripes. I'll try to do some homework for you and get back to you. This group stays in GL for 7 -8 months.

Hi Shirley, hope you got my email and that the information helped. I sent all of Aaron's stuff (the have to haves, cell phone, laptop, etc.) today via UPS. Wow next day air is expensive but I want him to have the things that will help me communicate with him as much as he does! Take care and I hope you get another call soon!

Shirley, wanted to stop by and welcome you to the AE/CF group. Looks like your son just had his PIR so congratulations! Will he be going in as an ET or FC? My son has been in school since April for the FC program. We have alot of great moms in the group and happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Well Shirley - it sure was great to meet you on Saturday! Did you ever catch up with anyone else? We did not. Bryan helped us look for Mitchell and family, but never happened. We had such a nice visit with Bryan (although it went quick!) He was constantly worried about the time and far we were from base. I felt bad he couldnt seem to relax even for one minute - but - all else was wonderful. I hope your time with Matt was great too.

We came home yesterday morning (no problems) and Bryan spent yesterday and today with his dad, so he had fun-filled days for sure.

Im sure we will still be there - is your hotel near there? We will be late arrivers too, but we are definately gonna stop in - cant wait to meet all of our supporters and shoulders over these last 8 weeks!

And congrats to you and hoooorah! for Matt! Its hard to imagine all they have been through these past weeks, but they made it.

Have a safe trip and hope to see you tomorrow night - no worries though, we will all be in the same section/division on Friday morning!

Now to try to sleep - gotta be at LAX bright and early (5:30am) which means we're outta here at 4am... ugh

Hugsss - Kathy
